8:26

And rememberwhenyou(were) few(and) deemed weakinthe earthfearingthatmight do away with youthe menthen He sheltered youand strengthened youwith His helpand provided youofthe good thingsso that you may(be) thankful(26)

Remember when you had been vastly outnumbered and oppressed in the land,1 constantly in fear of attacks by your enemy, then He sheltered you, strengthened you with His help, and provided you with good things so perhaps you would be thankful.

8:27

O youwhobelieve(Do) notbetrayAllahand the Messengeror betrayyour trustswhile youknow(27)

O believers! Do not betray Allah and the Messenger, nor betray your trusts knowingly.

8:28

And knowthatyour wealthand your children(are) a trialAnd thatAllah with Him(is) a rewardgreat(28)

And know that your wealth and your children are only a test and that with Allah is a great reward.

8:29

O youwhobelieveIfyou fearAllahHe will grantyoua criterionand will removefrom youyour evil deedsand forgiveﱹﱺyouAnd Allah(is) the Possessor(of) Bountythe Greatﱿ(29)

O believers! If you are mindful of Allah, He will grant you a decisive authority, absolve you of your sins, and forgive you. And Allah is the Lord of infinite bounty.

8:30

And whenplottedagainst youthose whodisbelievedthat they restrain youorkill youorﲉﲊdrive you outAnd they were planningand (also) was planningﲍﲎAllahAnd Allahis (the) Best(of) the Planners(30)

And ˹remember, O  Prophet,˺ when the disbelievers conspired to capture, kill, or exile you. They planned, but Allah also planned. And Allah is the best of planners.

8:31

And whenare recitedto themOur Versesthey sayVerilywe have heardifwe wishsurely, we could saylikethisNotis thisbuttales(of) the former (people)(31)

Whenever Our revelations are recited to them, they challenge ˹you˺, “We have already heard ˹the recitation˺. If we wanted, we could have easily produced something similar. This ˹Quran˺ is nothing but ancient fables!”

8:32

And whenthey saidO AllahIfwasthis[it]the truth[of]from Youthen (send) rainupon us(of) stonesfromthe skyorbring (upon) usa punishmentpainful(32)

And ˹remember˺ when they prayed, “O Allah! If this is indeed the truth from You, then rain down stones upon us from the sky or overcome us with a painful punishment.”

8:33

But notis(for) Allahthat He punishes themwhile youﲾﲿ(are) among themand notisAllahthe One Who punishes themwhile theyseek forgiveness(33)

But Allah would never punish them while you ˹O Prophet˺ were in their midst. Nor would He ever punish them if they prayed for forgiveness.
