2:127
ﱁAnd whenﱂ(was) raisingﱃIbrahimﱄthe foundationsﱅofﱆthe Houseﱇand Ishmaelﱈ(saying), "Our LordﱉAcceptﱊﱋfrom usﱌIndeed Youﱍ[You] (are)ﱎthe All-Hearingﱏthe All-Knowingﱐ(127)
And ˹remember˺ when Abraham raised the foundation of the House with Ishmael, ˹both praying,˺ “Our Lord! Accept ˹this˺ from us. You are indeed the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
2:128
ﱑOur Lordﱒ[and] Make usﱓboth submissiveﱔto YouﱕAnd fromﱖour offspringﱗa communityﱘsubmissiveﱙto YouﱚAnd show usﱛour ways of worshipﱜand turnﱝﱞto usﱟIndeed Youﱠ[You] (are)ﱡthe Oft-returningﱢthe Most Mercifulﱣ(128)
Our Lord! Make us both ˹fully˺ submit to You1 and from our descendants a nation that will submit to You. Show us our rituals, and turn to us in grace. You are truly the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful.
2:129
ﱤOur Lordﱥ[And] raise upﱦin themﱧa Messengerﱨfrom themﱩ(who) will reciteﱪto themﱫYour Versesﱬand will teach themﱭthe Bookﱮand the wisdomﱯﱰand purify themﱱIndeed YouﱲYou (are)ﱳthe All-Mightyﱴthe All-Wiseﱵ(129)
Our Lord! Raise from among them a messenger who will recite to them Your revelations, teach them the Book and wisdom, and purify them. Indeed, You ˹alone˺ are the Almighty, All-Wise.”
2:130
ﱶAnd whoﱷwill turn awayﱸfromﱹ(the) religionﱺ(of) IbrahimﱻexceptﱼwhoﱽfooledﱾﱿhimselfﲀAnd indeedﲁWe chose himﲂinﲃﲄthe worldﲅand indeed heﲆinﲇthe Hereafterﲈsurely (will be) amongﲉthe righteousﲊ(130)
And who would reject the faith of Abraham except a fool! We certainly chose him in this life, and in the Hereafter he will surely be among the righteous.
2:131
ﲋWhenﲌsaidﲍto himﲎhis LordﲏﲐSubmit (yourself)ﲑhe saidﲒI (have) submitted (myself)ﲓto (the) Lordﲔ(of) the worldsﲕ(131)
When his Lord ordered him, “Submit ˹to My Will˺,” he responded, “I submit to the Lord of all worlds.”
2:132
ﲖAnd enjoinedﲗ[it]ﲘIbrahimﲙ(upon) his sonsﲚand YaqubﲛO my sonsﲜIndeedﲝAllahﲞhas chosenﲟfor youﲠthe religionﲡso notﲢ(should) you dieﲣexceptﲤwhile youﲥ(are) submissiveﲦ(132)
This was the advice of Abraham—as well as Jacob—to his children, ˹saying˺, “Indeed, Allah has chosen for you this faith; so do not die except in ˹a state of full˺ submission.”
2:133
ﲧOrﲨwere youﲩwitnessesﲪwhenﲫcame toﲬYaqubﲭ[the] deathﲮwhenﲯhe saidﲰto his sonsﲱWhatﲲwill you worshipﲳfromﲴﲵafter meﲶThey saidﲷWe will worshipﲸyour Godﲹand (the) Godﲺ(of) your forefathersﲻIbrahimﲼand Ishmaelﲽand Isaac ﲾGodﲿOneﳀAnd weﳁto Himﳂ(are) submissiveﳃ(133)
Or did you witness when death came to Jacob? He asked his children, “Who will you worship after my passing?” They replied, “We will ˹continue to˺ worship your God, the God of your forefathers—Abraham, Ishmael, and Isaac—the One God. And to Him we ˹all˺ submit.”
2:134
ﳄThisﳅ(was) a communityﳆ(which)ﳇﳈhas passed awayﳉfor itﳊwhatﳋit earnedﳌand for youﳍwhatﳎﳏyou have earnedﳐAnd notﳑyou will be askedﳒabout whatﳓthey used toﳔdoﳕ(134)
That was a community that had already gone before. For them is what they earned and for you is what you have earned. And you will not be accountable for what they have done.
