12:53
ﱁ ﱂAnd notﱃI absolveﱄﱅmyselfﱆIndeedﱇthe soulﱈ(is) a certain enjoinerﱉof evilﱊunlessﱋ[that]ﱌbestows Mercyﱍﱎmy LordﱏIndeedﱐmy Lordﱑ(is) Oft-ForgivingﱒMost Mercifulﱓ(53)
And I do not seek to free myself from blame, for indeed the soul is ever inclined to evil, except those shown mercy by my Lord. Surely my Lord is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
12:54
ﱔAnd saidﱕthe kingﱖBring him to meﱗBring him to meﱘI will select himﱙﱚfor myselfﱛThen whenﱜhe spoke to himﱝhe saidﱞIndeed, youﱟ(are) todayﱠwith usﱡfirmly establishedﱢ(and) trustedﱣ(54)
The King said, “Bring him to me. I will employ him exclusively in my service.” And when Joseph spoke to him, the King said, “Today you are highly esteemed and fully trusted by us.”
12:55
ﱤHe saidﱥAppoint meﱦoverﱧ(the) treasuriesﱨﱩ(of) the landﱪIndeed, Iﱫ(will be) a guardianﱬknowingﱭ(55)
Joseph proposed, “Put me in charge of the store-houses of the land, for I am truly reliable and adept.”
12:56
ﱮAnd thusﱯWe establishedﱰ[to] Yusufﱱinﱲthe landﱳto settleﱴthereinﱵwhere everﱶﱷhe willedﱸWe bestowﱹOur Mercyﱺ(on) whomﱻﱼWe willﱽAnd notﱾWe let go wasteﱿ(the) rewardﲀ(of) the good-doersﲁ(56)
This is how We established Joseph in the land to settle wherever he pleased. We shower Our mercy on whoever We will, and We never discount the reward of the good-doers.
12:57
ﲂAnd surely (the) rewardﲃ(of) the Hereafterﲄ(is) betterﲅfor those whoﲆbelieveﲇand areﲈGod consciousﲉ(57)
And the reward of the Hereafter is far better for those who are faithful and are mindful ˹of Allah˺.
12:58
ﲊAnd cameﲋ(the) brothersﲌ(of) Yusufﲍand they enteredﲎupon himﲏand he recognized themﲐbut theyﲑknew him notﲒknew him notﲓ(58)
And Joseph’s brothers came and entered his presence. He recognized them but they were unaware of who he really was.
12:59
ﲔAnd whenﲕhe had furnished themﲖwith their suppliesﲗhe saidﲘBring to meﲙa brotherﲚof yoursﲛfromﲜﲝyour fatherﲞDo notﲟyou seeﲠthat Iﲡ[I] give fullﲢ[the] measureﲣand that I amﲤ(the) bestﲥ(of) the hostsﲦ(59)
When he had provided them with their supplies, he demanded, “Bring me your brother on your father’s side.1 Do you not see that I give full measure and I am the best of hosts?
12:60
ﲧBut ifﲨnotﲩyou bring him to meﲪyou bring him to meﲫthen (there will be) noﲬmeasureﲭfor youﲮfrom meﲯand notﲰyou will come near meﲱ(60)
But if you do not bring him to me ˹next time˺, I will have no grain for you, nor will you ever come close to me again.”
12:61
ﲲThey saidﲳWe will try to get permissionﲴfor himﲵ(from) his fatherﲶand indeed weﲷsurely will doﲸ(61)
They promised, “We will try to convince his father to let him come. We will certainly do ˹our best˺.”
12:62
ﲹAnd he saidﲺto his servantsﲻPutﲼtheir merchandiseﲽinﲾtheir saddlebagsﲿso that theyﳀmay recognize itﳁwhenﳂthey go backﳃtoﳄtheir peopleﳅso that they mayﳆreturnﳇ(62)
Joseph ordered his servants to put his brothers’ money back into their saddlebags so that they would find it when they returned to their family and perhaps they would come back.
12:63
ﳈSo whenﳉthey returnedﳊtoﳋtheir fatherﳌthey saidﳍO our fatherﳎHas been deniedﳏto usﳐthe measureﳑso sendﳒwith usﳓour brotherﳔ(that) we will get measureﳕAnd indeed, weﳖfor himﳗ(will) surely (be) guardiansﳘ(63)
When Joseph’s brothers returned to their father, they pleaded, “O our father! We have been denied ˹further˺ supplies. So send our brother with us so that we may receive our measure, and we will definitely watch over him.”
