16:88

And those whodisbelievedand hinderedfrom(the) way(of) AllahWe will increase them(in) punishmentoverpunishmentbecausethey used (to)spread corruption(88)

For those who disbelieve and hinder ˹others˺ from the Way of Allah, We will add more punishment to their punishment for all the corruption they spread.

16:89

And the DayWe will resurrectamongeverynationa witnessover themfromﱗﱘthemselvesAnd We (will) bringyou(as) a witnessoverﱝﱞtheseAnd We sent downto youthe Book(as) a clarificationof everythingand a guidanceand mercyand glad tidingsfor the Muslims(89)

˹Consider, O  Prophet,˺ the Day We will call against every faith-community a witness of their own. And We will call you to be a witness against these ˹people of yours˺. We have revealed to you the Book as an explanation of all things, a guide, a mercy, and good news for those who ˹fully˺ submit.

16:90

ﱪ ﱫIndeedAllahcommandsjusticeand the goodand giving(to) relatives(to) relativesand forbids[from]the immoralityand the badﱷﱸand the oppressionHe admonishes youso that you maytake heed(90)

Indeed, Allah commands justice, grace, as well as generosity to close relatives. He forbids indecency, wickedness, and aggression. He instructs you so perhaps you will be mindful.

16:91

And fulfilthe covenantﱿ(of) Allahwhenyou have taken a covenantand (do) notbreakoathsaftertheir confirmationwhile verilyyou have madeAllahover youﲋﲌa suretyIndeedAllahknowswhatyou do(91)

Honour Allah’s covenant when you make a pledge, and do not break your oaths after confirming them, having made Allah your guarantor. Surely Allah knows all you do.

16:92

And (do) notbelike her whountwistsher spun yarnafterafterstrength(into) untwisted strandsyou takeyour oaths(as) a deceptionbetween youbecauseisa community[it]more numerousthanﲦﲧ(another) communityOnlyAllah tests youAllah tests youﲫﲬby itAnd He will make clearto you(on) the Day(of) the Resurrectionwhatyou used (to)in itdiffer(92)

Do not be like the woman who ˹foolishly˺ unravels her yarn after it is firmly spun, by taking your oaths as a means of deceiving one another in favour of a stronger group. Surely Allah tests you through this. And on the Day of Judgment He will certainly make your differences clear to you.

16:93

And ifAllah (had) willedAllah (had) willedsurely He (could) have made youa nationonebutHe lets go astraywhomﲿHe willsand guideswhomﳂﳃHe willsAnd surely you will be questionedabout whatyou used (to)do(93)

Had Allah willed, He could have easily made you one community ˹of believers˺, but He leaves to stray whoever He wills and guides whoever He wills.1 And you will certainly be questioned about what you used to do.
