2:6

ﱁIndeedﱂthose whoﱃdisbelieve[d]ﱄ(it) is sameﱅto themﱆwhether you warn themﱇorﱈnotﱉyou warn themﱊnotﱋthey believeﱌ(6)

As for those who persist in disbelief, it is the same whether you warn them or not—they will never believe.

2:7

ﱍHas set a sealﱎAllahﱏonﱐtheir heartsﱑand onﱒﱓtheir hearingﱔand onﱕtheir visionﱖﱗ(is) a veilﱘAnd for themﱙ(is) a punishmentﱚgreatﱛ(7)

Allah has sealed their hearts and their hearing, and their sight is covered. They will suffer a tremendous punishment.

2:8

ﱜAnd ofﱝthe peopleﱞ(are some) whoﱟsayﱠWe believedﱡin Allahﱢand in the Dayﱣ[the] Lastﱤbut notﱥtheyﱦ(are) believers (at all)ﱧ(8)

And there are some who say, “We believe in Allah and the Last Day,” yet they are not ˹true˺ believers.

2:9

ﱨThey seek to deceiveﱩAllahﱪand those whoﱫbelieve[d]ﱬand notﱭthey deceiveﱮexceptﱯthemselvesﱰand notﱱthey realize (it)ﱲ(9)

They seek to deceive Allah and the believers, yet they only deceive themselves, but they fail to perceive it.

2:10

ﱳInﱴtheir heartsﱵ(is) a diseaseﱶso has increased themﱷAllahﱸﱹ(in) diseaseﱺand for themﱻ(is) a punishmentﱼpainfulﱽbecauseﱾthey used toﱿ[they] lieﲀ(10)

There is sickness in their hearts, and Allah ˹only˺ lets their sickness increase. They will suffer a painful punishment for their lies.

2:11

ﲁAnd whenﲂit is saidﲃto themﲄ(Do) notﲅspread corruptionﲆinﲇthe earthﲈthey sayﲉOnlyﲊweﲋ(are) reformersﲌ(11)

When they are told, “Do not spread corruption in the land,” they reply, “We are only peace-makers!”1

2:12

ﲍBewareﲎindeed theyﲏthemselvesﲐ(are) the ones who spread corruptionﲑ[and] butﲒnotﲓthey realize (it)ﲔ(12)

Indeed, it is they who are the corruptors, but they fail to perceive it.

2:13

ﲕAnd whenﲖit is saidﲗto themﲘBelieveﲙasﲚbelievedﲛthe peopleﲜthey sayﲝShould we believeﲞasﲟbelievedﲠﲡthe foolsﲢBewareﲣcertainly theyﲤthemselvesﲥ(are) the foolsﲦ[and] butﲧnotﲨthey knowﲩ(13)

And when they are told, “Believe as others believe,” they reply, “Will we believe as the fools believe?” Indeed, it is they who are fools, but they do not know.

2:14

ﲪAnd whenﲫthey meetﲬthose whoﲭbelieve[d]ﲮthey sayﲯWe believe[d]ﲰBut whenﲱthey are aloneﲲwithﲳtheir evil onesﲴthey sayﲵIndeed, weﲶ(are) with youﲷonlyﲸweﲹ(are) mockersﲺ(14)

When they meet the believers they say, “We believe.” But when alone with their evil associates they say, “We are definitely with you; we were only mocking.”

2:15

ﲻAllahﲼmocksﲽat themﲾand prolongs themﲿinﳀtheir transgressionﳁthey wander blindlyﳂ(15)

Allah will throw their mockery back at them, leaving them to continue wandering blindly in their defiance.

2:16

ﳃThoseﳄ(are) the ones whoﳅboughtﳆ[the] astrayingﳇfor [the] guidanceﳈSo notﳉprofitedﳊtheir commerceﳋand notﳌwere theyﳍguided-onesﳎ(16)

They are the ones who trade guidance for misguidance. But this trade is profitless, and they are not ˹rightly˺ guided.
