21:11

ﱁAnd how manyﱂWe (have) shatteredﱃofﱄa townﱅ(that) wasﱆunjustﱇand We producedﱈafter themﱉanother peopleﱊanother peopleﱋ(11)

˹Imagine˺ how many societies of wrongdoers We have destroyed, raising up other people after them!

21:12

ﱌThen whenﱍthey perceivedﱎOur tormentﱏbeholdﱐtheyﱑfrom itﱒwere fleeingﱓ(12)

When the wrongdoers sensed ˹the arrival of˺ Our torment, they started to run away from their cities.

21:13

ﱔFlee notﱕFlee notﱖbut returnﱗtoﱘwhatﱙyou were given luxuryﱚin itﱛand to your homesﱜso that you mayﱝbe questionedﱞ(13)

˹They were told,˺ “Do not run away! Return to your luxuries and your homes, so you may be questioned ˹about your fate˺.”

21:14

ﱟThey saidﱠO woe to usﱡIndeed, [we]ﱢwe wereﱣwrongdoersﱤ(14)

They cried, “Woe to us! We have surely been wrongdoers.”

21:15

ﱥThen notﱦceasedﱧ[this]ﱨtheir cryﱩuntilﱪWe made themﱫreapedﱬextinctﱭ(15)

They kept repeating their cry until We mowed them down, ˹leaving them˺ lifeless.1

21:16

ﱮAnd notﱯWe createdﱰthe heavensﱱand the earthﱲand whatﱳ(is) between themﱴ(for) playingﱵ(16)

We did not create the heavens and the earth and everything in between for sport.

21:17

ﱶIfﱷWe intendedﱸthatﱹWe takeﱺa pastimeﱻsurely We (could have) taken itﱼfromﱽUsﱾifﱿWe wereﲀdoersﲁ(17)

Had We intended to take ˹some˺ amusement, We could have found it in Our presence, if that had been Our Will.

21:18

ﲂNayﲃWe hurlﲄthe truthﲅagainstﲆ[the] falsehoodﲇand it breaks its headﲈbeholdﲉit (is)ﲊﲋvanishingﲌAnd for youﲍ(is) destructionﲎfor whatﲏyou ascribeﲐ(18)

In fact, We hurl the truth against falsehood, leaving it crushed, and it quickly vanishes. And woe be to you for what you claim!1

21:19

ﲑAnd to Him (belongs)ﲒwhoeverﲓ(is) inﲔthe heavensﲕﲖand the earthﲗAnd (those) whoﲘ(are) near Himﲙnotﲚthey are arrogantﲛtoﲜworship Himﲝand notﲞthey tireﲟ(19)

To Him belong all those in the heavens and the earth. And those nearest to Him are not too proud to worship Him, nor do they tire.

21:20

ﲠThey glorify (Him)ﲡ[the] nightﲢand [the] dayﲣnotﲤthey slackenﲥ(20)

They glorify ˹Him˺ day and night, never wavering.

21:21

ﲦOrﲧ(have) they takenﲨgodsﲩfromﲪthe earthﲫtheyﲬraise (the dead)ﲭ(21)

Or have they taken gods from the earth, who can raise the dead?

21:22

ﲮIfﲯ(there) wereﲰin both of themﲱgodsﲲbesidesﲳAllahﲴﲵsurely they (would) have been ruinedﲶSo glorifiedﲷ(is) AllahﲸLordﲹ(of) the Throneﲺ(above) whatﲻthey attributeﲼ(22)

Had there been other gods besides Allah in the heavens or the earth, both ˹realms˺ would have surely been corrupted. So Glorified is Allah, Lord of the Throne, far above what they claim.

21:23

ﲽNotﲾHe (can) be questionedﲿabout whatﳀHe doesﳁbut theyﳂwill be questionedﳃ(23)

He cannot be questioned about what He does, but they will ˹all˺ be questioned.

21:24

ﳄOrﳅ(have) they takenﳆbesides Himﳇbesides HimﳈﳉgodsﳊSayﳋBringﳌﳍyour proofﳎThisﳏ(is) a Reminderﳐ(for those) whoﳑ(are) with meﳒand a Reminderﳓ(for those) whoﳔﳕ(were) before meﳖButﳗmost of themﳘ(do) notﳙknowﳚﳛthe truthﳜso theyﳝ(are) averseﳞ(24)

Or have they taken other gods besides Him? Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Show ˹me˺ your proof. Here is ˹the Quran,˺ the Reminder for those with me; along with ˹earlier Scriptures,˺ the Reminder for those before me.”1 But most of them do not know the truth, so they turn away.
