22:39

ﱁPermission is givenﱂto those whoﱃare being foughtﱄbecause theyﱅﱆwere wrongedﱇAnd indeedﱈAllahﱉforﱊtheir victoryﱋ(is) surely Ableﱌ(39)

Permission ˹to fight back˺ is ˹hereby˺ granted to those being fought, for they have been wronged.1 And Allah is truly Most Capable of helping them ˹prevail˺.

22:40

ﱍThose whoﱎhave been evictedﱏfromﱐtheir homesﱑwithoutﱒrightﱓexceptﱔthatﱕthey saidﱖOur Lordﱗﱘ(is) AllahﱙAnd if notﱚAllah checksﱛAllah checksﱜthe peopleﱝsome of themﱞby othersﱟsurely (would) have been demolishedﱠmonasteriesﱡand churchesﱢand synagoguesﱣand masajid ﱤis mentionedﱥin itﱦ(the) name of Allahﱧ(the) name of AllahﱨﱩmuchﱪAnd surely Allah will helpﱫAnd surely Allah will helpﱬ(those) whoﱭﱮhelp HimﱯIndeedﱰAllahﱱ(is) surely All-StrongﱲAll-Mightyﱳ(40)

˹They are˺ those who have been expelled from their homes for no reason other than proclaiming: “Our Lord is Allah.” Had Allah not repelled ˹the aggression of˺ some people by means of others, destruction would have surely claimed monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which Allah’s Name is often mentioned. Allah will certainly help those who stand up for Him. Allah is truly All-Powerful, Almighty.

22:41

ﱴThose whoﱵifﱶWe establish themﱷinﱸthe landﱹthey establishﱺthe prayerﱻand they giveﱼzakahﱽand they enjoinﱾthe rightﱿand forbidﲀfromﲁﲂthe wrongﲃAnd for Allahﲄ(is the) endﲅ(of) the mattersﲆ(41)

˹They are˺ those who, if established in the land by Us, would perform prayer, pay alms-tax, encourage what is good, and forbid what is evil. And with Allah rests the outcome of all affairs.

22:42

ﲇAnd ifﲈthey deny youﲉso verilyﲊdeniedﲋbefore themﲌ(the) peopleﲍ(of) Nuhﲎand Aadﲏand Thamudﲐ(42)

If they deny you ˹O Prophet˺, so did the people of Noah before them, as well as ˹the tribes of˺ ’Ȃd and Thamûd,

22:43

ﲑAnd (the) peopleﲒ(of) Ibrahimﲓand (the) peopleﲔ(of) Lutﲕ(43)

the people of Abraham, the people of Lot,

22:44

ﲖAnd the inhabitantsﲗﲘ(of) MadyanﲙAnd Musa was deniedﲚﲛAnd Musa was deniedﲜso I granted respiteﲝto the disbelieversﲞthenﲟﲠI seized themﲡand howﲢwasﲣMy punishmentﲤ(44)

and the residents of Midian. And Moses was denied ˹too˺. But I delayed ˹the fate of˺ the disbelievers ˹until their appointed time˺ then seized them. And how severe was My response!

22:45

ﲥAnd how manyﲦofﲧa townshipﲨWe have destroyed itﲩwhile itﲪwas doing wrongﲫso itﲬfellﲭonﲮits roofsﲯand wellﲰabandonedﲱand castleﲲloftyﲳ(45)

Many are the societies We have destroyed for persisting in wrongdoing, leaving them in total ruin. ˹Many are˺ also the abandoned wells and lofty palaces!

22:46

ﲴSo have notﲵthey traveledﲶinﲷthe landﲸand isﲹfor themﲺheartsﲻ(to) reasonﲼwith itﲽorﲾearsﲿ(to) hearﳀﳁwith itﳂFor indeed, [it]ﳃnotﳄ(are) blindedﳅthe eyesﳆbutﳇ(are) blindedﳈthe heartsﳉwhichﳊ(are) inﳋthe breastsﳌ(46)

Have they not travelled throughout the land so their hearts may reason, and their ears may listen? Indeed, it is not the eyes that are blind, but it is the hearts in the chests that grow blind.
