28:14

ﱁAnd whenﱂhe reachedﱃhis full strengthﱄand became matureﱅWe bestowed upon himﱆwisdomﱇﱈand knowledgeﱉAnd thusﱊWe rewardﱋthe good-doersﱌ(14)

And when he reached full strength and maturity, We gave him wisdom and knowledge. This is how We reward the good-doers.

28:15

ﱍAnd he enteredﱎthe cityﱏatﱐa timeﱑ(of) inattentionﱒofﱓits peopleﱔand foundﱕthereinﱖtwo menﱗfighting each otherﱘthisﱙofﱚhis partyﱛand thisﱜofﱝﱞhis enemyﱟAnd called him for helpﱠthe one whoﱡ(was) fromﱢhis partyﱣagainstﱤthe one whoﱥ(was) fromﱦhis enemyﱧso Musa struck him with his fistﱨso Musa struck him with his fistﱩand killed himﱪﱫand killed himﱬHe saidﱭThis (is)ﱮofﱯ(the) deedﱰﱱ(of) ShaitaanﱲIndeed, heﱳ(is) an enemy ﱴone who misleadsﱵclearlyﱶ(15)

˹One day˺ he entered the city unnoticed by its people.1 There he found two men fighting: one of his own people, and the other of his enemies. The man from his people called to him for help against his foe. So Moses punched him, causing his death. Moses cried, “This is from Satan’s handiwork. He is certainly a sworn, misleading enemy.”

28:16

ﱷHe saidﱸMy LordﱹIndeed, Iﱺ[I] have wrongedﱻmy soulﱼso forgiveﱽ[for] meﱾThen He forgaveﱿﲀ[for] himﲁIndeed HeﲂHe (is)ﲃthe Oft-Forgivingﲄthe Most Mercifulﲅ(16)

He pleaded, “My Lord! I have definitely wronged my soul, so forgive me.” So He forgave him, ˹for˺ He is indeed the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

28:17

ﲆHe saidﲇMy LordﲈBecauseﲉYou have favoredﲊ[on] meﲋso notﲌI will beﲍa supporterﲎ(of) the criminalsﲏ(17)

Moses pledged, “My Lord! For all Your favours upon me, I will never side with the wicked.”

28:18

ﲐIn the morning he wasﲑinﲒthe cityﲓfearfulﲔ(and) was vigilantﲕwhen beholdﲖThe one whoﲗsought his helpﲘthe previous dayﲙﲚcried out to him for helpﲛSaidﲜto himﲝMusaﲞIndeed, youﲟ(are) surely a deviatorﲠclearﲡ(18)

And so Moses became fearful, watching out in the city, when suddenly the one who sought his help the day before cried out to him again for help. Moses rebuked him, “Indeed, you are clearly a trouble-maker.”

28:19

ﲢThen whenﲣ[that]ﲤhe wantedﲥtoﲦstrikeﲧthe one whoﲨ[he] (was)ﲩan enemyﲪto both of themﲫhe saidﲬO MusaﲭDo you intendﲮtoﲯkill meﲰasﲱyou killedﲲa personﲳﲴyesterdayﲵNotﲶyou wantﲷbutﲸthatﲹyou becomeﲺa tyrantﲻinﲼthe earthﲽand notﲾyou wantﲿthatﳀyou beﳁofﳂthe reformersﳃ(19)

Then when Moses was about to lay his hands on their foe,1 the enemy said, “O Moses! Do you intend to kill me as you killed a man yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land. You do not intend to make peace!”

28:20

ﳄAnd cameﳅa manﳆfromﳇ(the) farthest endﳈ(of) the cityﳉrunningﳊHe saidﳋO MusaﳌIndeedﳍthe chiefsﳎare taking counselﳏabout youﳐto kill youﳑso leaveﳒindeed, I amﳓto youﳔofﳕthe sincere advisorsﳖ(20)

And there came a man, rushing from the farthest end of the city. He said, “O Moses! The chiefs are actually conspiring against you to put you to death, so leave ˹the city˺. I really advise you ˹to do so˺.”

28:21

ﳗSo he leftﳘfrom itﳙfearingﳚﳛ(and) vigilantﳜHe saidﳝMy LordﳞSave meﳟfromﳠthe people ﳡthe wrongdoersﳢ(21)

So Moses left the city in a state of fear and caution, praying, “My Lord! Deliver me from the wrongdoing people.”
