2:238

Guard strictly[on]the prayersand the prayer [the] middleand stand upfor Allahdevoutly obedient(238)

Observe the ˹five obligatory˺ prayers—especially the middle prayer1—and stand in true devotion to Allah.

2:239

And ifyou fearthen (pray) on footorﱎﱏridingThen whenyou are securethen rememberAllahasHe (has) taught youwhatnotyou wereknowing(239)

If you are in danger, pray on foot or while riding. But when you are safe, ˹take time to˺ remember Allah for teaching you what you did not know.

2:240

And those whodieamong youand leave behind(their) wives(should make) a willfor their wivesprovisionforthe yearwithoutﱦﱧdriving (them) outBut ifthey leavethen noblameupon youinwhatthey doconcerningthemselves[of]ﱳﱴhonorablyAnd Allah(is) All-MightyAll-Wise(240)

Those of you who die leaving widows should bequeath for them a year’s maintenance without forcing them out.1 But if they choose to leave, you are not accountable for what they reasonably decide for themselves. And Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.

2:241

And for the divorced women(is) a provisionﱻﱼin a fair manner a dutyuponﱿthe righteous(241)

Reasonable provisions must be made for divorced women—a duty on those mindful ˹of Allah˺.

2:242

Thusmakes clearAllahfor youHis Versesso that you mayuse your intellect(242)

This is how Allah makes His revelations clear to you, so perhaps you will understand.

2:243

ﲉ ﲊDid notyou see[to]those whowent outfromtheir homesand they(were in) thousands(in) fear(of) [the] deathThen saidto themAllahDiethenﲚﲛHe restored them to lifeIndeedAllah(is) surely Possessor(of) bountyfor[the] mankind[and] butmost(of) the people(are) notgrateful(243)

Have you ˹O Prophet˺ not seen those who fled their homes in the thousands for fear of death?1 Allah said to them, “Die!” then He gave them life. Surely Allah is ever Bountiful to humanity, but most people are ungrateful.

2:244

And fightin(the) way(of) Allahand knowthatAllah(is) All-HearingAll-Knowing(244)

Fight in the cause of Allah, and know that Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

2:245

Who(is) the onewhowill lend(to) Allah a loangoodso (that) He multiplies itfor him manifoldsﲼﲽmanyAnd Allahﲿwithholdsand grants abundanceand to Himyou will be returned(245)

Who will lend to Allah a good loan which Allah will multiply many times over? It is Allah ˹alone˺ who decreases and increases ˹wealth˺. And to Him you will ˹all˺ be returned.
