35:45

ﱁAnd ifﱂAllah (were to) punishﱃAllah (were to) punishﱄthe peopleﱅfor whatﱆthey have earnedﱇnotﱈHe would leaveﱉonﱊits backﱋanyﱌcreatureﱍButﱎHe gives them respiteﱏtillﱐa termﱑﱒappointedﱓAnd whenﱔcomesﱕtheir termﱖthen indeedﱗAllahﱘisﱙof His slavesﱚAll-Seerﱛ(45)

If Allah were to punish people ˹immediately˺ for what they have committed, He would not have left a single living being on earth. But He delays them for an appointed term. And when their time arrives, then surely Allah is All-Seeing of His servants.

36:1

ﱜYa Seenﱝ(1)

Yâ-Sĩn.

36:2

ﱞBy the Quranﱟthe Wiseﱠ(2)

By the Quran, rich in wisdom!

36:3

ﱡIndeed, youﱢ(are) amongﱣthe Messengersﱤ(3)

You ˹O Prophet˺ are truly one of the messengers

36:4

ﱥOnﱦa PathﱧStraightﱨ(4)

upon the Straight Path.

36:5

ﱩA revelationﱪ(of) the All-Mightyﱫthe Most Mercifulﱬ(5)

˹This is˺ a revelation from the Almighty, Most Merciful,

36:6

ﱭThat you may warnﱮa peopleﱯnotﱰwere warnedﱱtheir forefathersﱲso theyﱳ(are) heedlessﱴ(6)

so that you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, and so are heedless.

36:7

ﱵCertainlyﱶ(has) proved trueﱷthe wordﱸuponﱹmost of themﱺso theyﱻ(do) notﱼbelieveﱽ(7)

The decree ˹of torment˺ has already been justified against most of them, for they will never believe.

36:8

ﱾIndeed, Weﱿ[We] have placedﲀonﲁtheir necksﲂiron collarsﲃand theyﲄ(are up) toﲅthe chinsﲆso theyﲇ(are with) heads raised upﲈ(8)

˹It is as if˺ We have put shackles around their necks up to their chins, so their heads are forced up,

36:9

ﲉAnd We have madeﲊfromﲋbefore/betweenﲌtheir hands/their frontﲍa barrierﲎand fromﲏbehind themﲐa barrierﲑand We covered themﲒso theyﲓ(do) notﲔseeﲕ(9)

and have placed a barrier before them and a barrier behind them and covered them ˹all˺ up, so they fail to see ˹the truth˺.

36:10

ﲖAnd it (is) sameﲗto themﲘwhether you warn themﲙorﲚ(do) notﲛwarn themﲜnotﲝthey will believeﲞ(10)

It is the same whether you warn them or not—they will never believe.

36:11

ﲟOnlyﲠyou (can) warnﲡ(him) whoﲢfollowsﲣthe Reminderﲤand fearsﲥthe Most Graciousﲦﲧin the unseenﲨSo give him glad tidingsﲩof forgivenessﲪand a rewardﲫnobleﲬ(11)

You can only warn those who follow the Reminder1 and are in awe of the Most Compassionate without seeing Him.2 So give them good news of forgiveness and an honourable reward.

36:12

ﲭIndeed, Weﲮ[We]ﲯ[We] give lifeﲰ(to) the deadﲱand We recordﲲwhatﲳthey have sent beforeﲴﲵand their footprintsﲶand everyﲷthingﲸWe have enumerated itﲹinﲺa Registerﲻclearﲼ(12)

It is certainly We Who resurrect the dead, and write what they send forth and what they leave behind. Everything is listed by Us in a perfect Record.1
