39:22
ﱁSo is (one for) whomﱂAllah has expandedﱃAllah has expandedﱄhis breastﱅfor Islamﱆso heﱇ(is) uponﱈa lightﱉfromﱊﱋhis LordﱌSo woeﱍto (those are) hardenedﱎtheir heartsﱏfromﱐ(the) remembrance of Allahﱑﱒ(the) remembrance of AllahﱓThoseﱔ(are) inﱕerrorﱖclearﱗ(22)
Can ˹the misguided be like˺ those whose hearts Allah has opened to Islam, so they are enlightened by their Lord? So woe to those whose hearts are hardened at the remembrance of Allah! It is they who are clearly astray.
39:23
ﱘAllahﱙhas revealedﱚ(the) bestﱛ(of) [the] statement ﱜa Bookﱝ(its parts) resembling each otherﱞoft-repeatedﱟShiverﱠfrom itﱡ(the) skinsﱢ(of) those whoﱣfearﱤtheir Lordﱥthenﱦrelaxﱧtheir skinsﱨand their heartsﱩatﱪ(the) remembranceﱫﱬ(of) AllahﱭThatﱮ(is the) guidanceﱯ(of) AllahﱰHe guidesﱱwith itﱲwhomﱳﱴHe willsﱵAnd whoeverﱶAllah lets go astrayﱷAllah lets go astrayﱸthen notﱹfor himﱺanyﱻguideﱼ(23)
˹It is˺ Allah ˹Who˺ has sent down the best message—a Book of perfect consistency and repeated lessons—which causes the skin ˹and hearts˺ of those who fear their Lord to tremble, then their skin and hearts soften at the mention of ˹the mercy of˺ Allah. That is the guidance of Allah, through which He guides whoever He wills. But whoever Allah leaves to stray will be left with no guide.
39:24
ﱽThen (is) he whoﱾwill shieldﱿwith his faceﲀ(the) worstﲁpunishmentﲂ(on the) Dayﲃﲄ(of) the ResurrectionﲅAnd it will be saidﲆto the wrongdoersﲇTasteﲈwhatﲉyou used toﲊearnﲋ(24)
Are those who will only have their ˹bare˺ faces to shield themselves from the awful torment on Judgment Day ˹better than those in Paradise˺? It will ˹then˺ be said to the wrongdoers: “Reap what you sowed!”
39:25
ﲌDeniedﲍthose whoﲎ(were) before themﲏ(were) before themﲐso came upon themﲑthe punishmentﲒfromﲓwhereﲔnotﲕthey perceiveﲖ(25)
Those before them ˹also˺ rejected ˹the truth˺, then the torment came upon them from where they least expected.
39:26
ﲗSo Allah made themﲘSo Allah made themﲙthe disgraceﲚinﲛthe lifeﲜﲝ(of) the worldﲞand certainly (the) punishmentﲟ(of) the Hereafterﲠﲡ(is) greaterﲢifﲣtheyﲤknewﲥ(26)
So Allah made them taste humiliation in this worldly life, but far worse is the punishment of the Hereafter, if only they knew.
39:27
ﲦAnd indeedﲧWe have set forthﲨfor peopleﲩinﲪthisﲫQuranﲬofﲭeveryﲮexampleﲯso that they mayﲰtake heedﲱ(27)
We have certainly set forth every ˹kind of˺ lesson for people in this Quran, so perhaps they will be mindful.
39:28
ﲲA Quranﲳ(in) Arabicﲴwithoutﲵanyﲶcrookednessﲷso that they mayﲸ(become) righteousﲹ(28)
˹It is˺ a Quran ˹revealed˺ in Arabic without any crookedness, so perhaps they will be conscious ˹of Allah˺.
39:29
ﲺAllah sets forthﲻAllah sets forthﲼan example ﲽa manﲾabout himﲿpartnersﳀquarrelingﳁand a manﳂ(belonging) exclusivelyﳃto one man ﳄareﳅthey both equalﳆﳇ(in) comparisonﳈAll praiseﳉﳊ(be) to AllahﳋNayﳌmost of themﳍ(do) notﳎknowﳏ(29)
Allah sets forth the parable of a slave owned by several quarrelsome masters, and a slave owned by only one master. Are they equal in condition?1 Praise be to Allah! In fact, most of them do not know.
39:30
ﳐIndeed, youﳑwill dieﳒand indeed, theyﳓ(will also) dieﳔ(30)
You ˹O Prophet˺ will certainly die, and they will die too.
39:31
ﳕThenﳖindeed youﳗ(on the) Dayﳘ(of) the Resurrectionﳙbeforeﳚyour Lordﳛwill disputeﳜ(31)
Then on the Day of Judgment you will ˹all settle your˺ dispute before your Lord.
