50:16

ﱁAnd certainlyﱂWe createdﱃmanﱄand We knowﱅwhatﱆwhispersﱇto himﱈﱉhis soulﱊand Weﱋ(are) nearerﱌto himﱍthanﱎ(his) jugular veinﱏ(his) jugular veinﱐ(16)

Indeed, ˹it is˺ We ˹Who˺ created humankind and ˹fully˺ know what their souls whisper to them, and We are closer to them than ˹their˺ jugular vein.

50:17

ﱑWhenﱒreceiveﱓthe two receiversﱔonﱕthe rightﱖand onﱗthe leftﱘseatedﱙ(17)

As the two recording-angels—˹one˺ sitting to the right, and ˹the other to˺ the left—note ˹everything˺,

50:18

ﱚNotﱛhe uttersﱜanyﱝwordﱞbutﱟwith himﱠ(is) an observerﱡreadyﱢ(18)

not a word does a person utter without having a ˹vigilant˺ observer ready ˹to write it down˺.1

50:19

ﱣAnd will comeﱤ(the) stuporﱥ(of) deathﱦﱧin truthﱨThatﱩ(is) whatﱪyou wereﱫ[from it]ﱬavoidingﱭ(19)

˹Ultimately,˺ with the throes of death will come the truth.1 This is what you were trying to escape!

50:20

ﱮAnd will be blownﱯ[in]ﱰﱱthe trumpetﱲThatﱳ(is the) Dayﱴ(of) the Warningﱵ(20)

And the Trumpet will be blown.1 This is the Day ˹you were˺ warned of.

50:21

ﱶAnd will comeﱷeveryﱸsoulﱹwith itﱺa driverﱻand a witnessﱼ(21)

Each soul will come forth with an angel to drive it and another to testify.

50:22

ﱽCertainlyﱾyou wereﱿinﲀheedlessnessﲁofﲂthisﲃSo We have removedﲄfrom youﲅyour coverﲆso your sightﲇtodayﲈ(is) sharpﲉ(22)

˹It will be said to the denier,˺ “You were totally heedless of this. Now We have lifted this veil of yours, so Today your sight is sharp!”

50:23

ﲊAnd (will) sayﲋhis companionﲌThisﲍ(is) whatﲎ(is) with meﲏreadyﲐ(23)

And one’s accompanying-angel will say, “Here is the record ready with me.”

50:24

ﲑThrowﲒin (to)ﲓHellﲔeveryﲕdisbelieverﲖstubbornﲗ(24)

˹It will be said to both angels,˺ “Throw into Hell every stubborn disbeliever,

50:25

ﲘForbidderﲙof goodﲚtransgressorﲛdoubterﲜ(25)

withholder of good, transgressor, and doubter,

50:26

ﲝWhoﲞmadeﲟwithﲠAllahﲡa godﲢanotherﲣso throw himﲤin(to)ﲥthe punishmentﲦthe severeﲧ(26)

who set up another god with Allah. So cast them into the severe punishment.”

50:27

ﲨ ﲩWill sayﲪhis companionﲫOur LordﲬnotﲭI made him transgressﲮbutﲯhe wasﲰinﲱerrorﲲfarﲳ(27)

One’s ˹devilish˺ associate will say, “Our Lord! I did not make them transgress. Rather, they were far astray ˹on their own˺.”

50:28

ﲴHe will sayﲵ(Do) notﲶdisputeﲷ(in) My presenceﲸand indeedﲹI sent forthﲺto youﲻthe Warningﲼ(28)

Allah will respond, “Do not dispute in My presence, since I had already given you a warning.

50:29

ﲽNotﲾwill be changedﲿthe wordﳀwith Meﳁand notﳂI Amﳃunjustﳄto My slavesﳅ(29)

My Word cannot be changed,1 nor am I unjust to ˹My˺ creation.”

50:30

ﳆ(The) DayﳇWe will sayﳈto HellﳉAreﳊyou filledﳋAnd it will sayﳌAreﳍ(there) anyﳎmoreﳏ(30)

˹Beware of˺ the Day We will ask Hell, “Are you full ˹yet˺?” And it will respond, “Are there any more?”

50:31

ﳐAnd will be brought nearﳑthe Paradiseﳒto the righteousﳓnotﳔfarﳕ(31)

And Paradise will be brought near to the righteous, not far off.

50:32

ﳖThisﳗ(is) whatﳘyou were promisedﳙfor everyoneﳚwho turnsﳛ(and) who keepsﳜ(32)

˹And it will be said to them,˺ “This is what you were promised, for whoever ˹constantly˺ turned ˹to Allah˺ and kept up ˹His commandments˺—

50:33

ﳝWhoﳞfearedﳟthe Most Graciousﳠin the unseenﳡand cameﳢwith a heartﳣreturningﳤ(33)

who were in awe of the Most Compassionate without seeing ˹Him˺,1 and have come with a heart turning ˹only to Him˺.

50:34

ﳥEnter itﳦﳧin peaceﳨThatﳩ(is) a Dayﳪ(of) Eternityﳫ(34)

Enter it in peace. This is the Day of eternal life!”

50:35

ﳬFor themﳭwhateverﳮthey wishﳯthereinﳰand with Usﳱ(is) moreﳲ(35)

There they will have whatever they desire, and with Us is ˹even˺ more.1
