70:41

[On]to[We] replace(with) betterthan themand notWe(are) to be outrun

of replacing them with ˹others˺ better than them, and We cannot be prevented ˹from doing so˺.

70:42

So leave them(to) converse vainlyand amuse themselvesuntilthey meettheir Daywhichthey are promised

So let them indulge ˹in falsehood˺ and amuse ˹themselves˺ until they face their Day, which they have been threatened with—

70:43

(The) Daythey will come outfromthe gravesrapidlyas if they (were)toa goalhastening

the Day they will come forth from the graves swiftly, as if racing to an idol ˹for a blessing˺,

70:44

Humbledtheir eyesightswill cover themﱠﱡhumiliationThat(is) the Daywhichthey werepromised

with eyes downcast, utterly covered with disgrace. That is the Day they have ˹always˺ been warned of.

71.Surah

Noah

28 āyāt · Meccan

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

71:1

Indeed, We[We] sentNuhtohis peoplethatWarnyour peoplefrombefore[that]comes to thema punishmentpainful

Indeed, We sent Noah to his people ˹saying to him˺, “Warn your people before a painful punishment comes to them.”

71:2

He saidO my peopleIndeed, I amto youa warnerclear

Noah proclaimed, “O my people! I am truly sent to you with a clear warning:

71:3

ThatﱿWorshipAllahand fear Himand obey me

worship Allah ˹alone˺, fear Him, and obey me.

71:4

He will forgivefor you[of]your sinsand give you respitefora termﲋﲌspecifiedIndeed(the) term(of) Allahwhenit comesnotﲓﲔis delayedifyouknow

He will forgive your sins, and delay your end until the appointed time. Indeed, when the time set by Allah comes, it cannot be delayed, if only you knew!”

71:5

He saidMy LordIndeed, Iinvitedmy peoplenightand day

He cried, “My Lord! I have surely called my people day and night,

71:6

But notincreased themmy invitationexcept(in) flight

but my calls only made them run farther away.

71:7

And indeed, Ievery timeI invited themthat You may forgivethemthey puttheir fingersintheir earsand covered themselves(with) their garmentsand persistedand were arrogant(with) pride

And whenever I invite them to be forgiven by You, they press their fingers into their ears, cover themselves with their clothes, persist ˹in denial˺, and act very arrogantly.

71:8

Thenindeed, Iinvited thempublicly

Then I certainly called them openly,

71:9

Thenindeed, Iannouncedto themﲿand I confidedto themsecretly

then I surely preached to them publicly and privately,

71:10

Then I saidAsk forgiveness(from) your LordIndeed, HeisOft-Forgiving

saying, ‘Seek your Lord’s forgiveness, ˹for˺ He is truly Most Forgiving.
