ﱁButﱂwhoeverﱃturns awayﱄand disbelievesﱅ
But whoever turns away, persisting in disbelief,
- Reflections
ﱆThen will punish himﱇAllahﱈ(with) the punishmentﱉgreatestﱊ
then Allah will inflict upon them the major punishment.

ﱋIndeedﱌto Usﱍ(will be) their returnﱎ
Surely to Us is their return,
- Reflections
ﱏThenﱐindeedﱑupon Usﱒ(is) their accountﱓ
then surely with Us is their reckoning.

Al-Fajr
The Dawn
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.
ﱔBy the dawnﱕ
By the dawn,
- Reflections
ﱖAnd the nightsﱗtenﱘ
and the ten nights,
- Reflections
ﱙAnd the evenﱚand the oddﱛ
and the even and the odd,
- Reflections
ﱜAnd the nightﱝwhenﱞit passesﱟ
and the night when it passes!
- Reflections
ﱠIsﱡinﱢthatﱣ(not) an oathﱤfor thoseﱥwho understandﱦ
Is all this ˹not˺ a sufficient oath for those who have sense?

ﱧDid notﱨyou seeﱩhowﱪdealtﱫyour Lordﱬwith Aadﱭ
Did you not see how your Lord dealt with ’Ȃd—
- Reflections
ﱮIramﱯpossessors (of)ﱰlofty pillarsﱱ
˹the people˺ of Iram—with ˹their˺ great stature,
- Reflections
ﱲWhichﱳnotﱴhad been createdﱵlike themﱶinﱷthe citiesﱸ
unmatched in any other land;
- Reflections
ﱹAnd Thamudﱺwhoﱻcarved outﱼthe rocksﱽin the valleyﱾ
and Thamûd who carved ˹their homes into˺ the rocks in the ˹Stone˺ Valley;
- Reflections
ﱿAnd Firaunﲀowner ofﲁstakesﲂ
and the Pharaoh of mighty structures?
- Reflections
ﲃWhoﲄtransgressedﲅinﲆthe landsﲇ
They all transgressed throughout the land,
- Reflections
ﲈAnd (made) muchﲉthereinﲊcorruptionﲋ
spreading much corruption there.
- Reflections
ﲌSo pouredﲍon themﲎyour Lordﲏscourgeﲐ(of) punishmentﲑ
So your Lord unleashed on them a scourge of punishment.
- Reflections
ﲒIndeedﲓyour Lordﲔ(is) surely Ever Watchfulﲕ
˹For˺ your Lord is truly vigilant.
- Reflections
ﲖAnd as forﲗmanﲘwhenﲙdoesﲚtry himﲛhis Lordﲜand is generous to himﲝand favors himﲞhe saysﲟMy Lordﲠhas honored meﲡ
Now, whenever a human being is tested by their Lord through ˹His˺ generosity and blessings, they boast, “My Lord has ˹deservedly˺ honoured me!”

ﲢButﲣwhenﲤdoesﲥHe try himﲦand restrictsﲧfor himﲨhis provisionﲩthen he saysﲪMy Lordﲫ(has) humiliated meﲬ
But when He tests them by limiting their provision, they protest, “My Lord has ˹undeservedly˺ humiliated me!”

ﲭﲮNayﲯButﲰnotﲱyou honorﲲthe orphanﲳ
Absolutely not! In fact, you are not ˹even˺ gracious to the orphan,
- Reflections
ﲴAnd notﲵyou feel the urgeﲶtoﲷfeedﲸthe poorﲹ
nor do you urge one another to feed the poor.

ﲺAnd you consumeﲻthe inheritanceﲼdevouringﲽaltogetherﲾ
And you devour ˹others’˺ inheritance greedily,
- Reflections
ﲿAnd you loveﳀwealthﳁ(with) loveﳂimmenseﳃ
and love wealth fervently.
- Reflections
ﳄﳅNayﳆWhenﳇis leveledﳈthe earthﳉpoundedﳊ(and) crushedﳋ
Enough! When the earth is entirely crushed over and over,
- Reflections
ﳌAnd comesﳍyour Lordﳎand the Angelsﳏrankﳐ(upon) rankﳑ
and your Lord comes ˹to judge˺ with angels, rank upon rank,
