ﱁAnd is broughtﱂthat DayﱃﱄHellﱅThat Dayﱆwill rememberﱇmanﱈbut howﱉ(will be) for himﱊthe remembranceﱋ
and Hell is brought forth on that Day—this is when every ˹disbelieving˺ person will remember ˹their own sins˺. But what is the use of remembering then?

ﱌHe will sayﱍO I wishﱎI had sent forthﱏfor my lifeﱐ
They will cry, “I wish I had sent forth ˹something good˺ for my ˹true˺ life.”

ﱑSo that Dayﱒnotﱓwill punishﱔ(as) His punishmentﱕanyoneﱖ
On that Day He will punish ˹them˺ severely, like no other,
- Reflections
ﱗAnd notﱘwill bindﱙ(as) His bindingﱚanyoneﱛ
and bind ˹them˺ tightly, like no other.

ﱜOﱝsoulﱞwho is satisfiedﱟ
˹Allah will say to the righteous,˺ “O tranquil soul!
- Reflections
ﱠReturnﱡtoﱢyour Lordﱣwell pleasedﱤand pleasingﱥ
Return to your Lord, well pleased ˹with Him˺ and well pleasing ˹to Him˺.

ﱦSo enterﱧamongﱨMy slavesﱩ
So join My servants,
- Reflections
ﱪAnd enterﱫMy Paradiseﱬ
and enter My Paradise.”

Al-Balad
The City
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.
ﱭNayﱮI swearﱯby thisﱰcityﱱ
I do swear by this city ˹of Mecca˺—
- Reflections
ﱲAnd youﱳ(are) free (to dwell)ﱴin thisﱵcityﱶ
even though you ˹O Prophet˺ are subject to abuse in this city—
- Reflections
ﱷAnd the begetterﱸand whatﱹhe begotﱺ
and by every parent and ˹their˺ child!
- Reflections
ﱻCertainlyﱼWe have createdﱽmanﱾ(to be) inﱿhardshipﲀ
Indeed, We have created humankind in ˹constant˺ struggle.

ﲁDoes he thinkﲂthatﲃnotﲄhas powerﲅover himﲆanyoneﲇ
Do they think that no one has power over them,
- Reflections
ﲈHe will sayﲉI have squanderedﲊwealthﲋabundantﲌ
boasting, “I have wasted enormous wealth!”?

ﲍDoes he thinkﲎthatﲏnotﲐsees himﲑanyoneﲒ
Do they think that no one sees them?
- Reflections
ﲓHave notﲔWe madeﲕfor himﲖtwo eyesﲗ
Have We not given them two eyes,
- Reflections
ﲘAnd a tongueﲙand two lipsﲚ
a tongue, and two lips;
- Reflections
ﲛAnd shown himﲜthe two waysﲝ
and shown them the two ways ˹of right and wrong˺?
- Reflections
ﲞBut notﲟhe has attemptedﲠthe steep pathﲡ
If only they had attempted the challenging path ˹of goodness instead˺!
- Reflections
ﲢAnd whatﲣcan make you knowﲤwhatﲥthe steep path (is)ﲦ
And what will make you realize what ˹attempting˺ the challenging path is?
- Reflections
ﲧ(It is) freeingﲨa neckﲩ
It is to free a slave,
- Reflections
ﲪOrﲫfeedingﲬinﲭa dayﲮofﲯsevere hungerﲰ
or to give food in times of famine
- Reflections
ﲱAn orphanﲲofﲳnear relationshipﲴ
to an orphaned relative
- Reflections
ﲵOrﲶa needy personﲷinﲸmiseryﲹ
or to a poor person in distress,
- Reflections
ﲺThenﲻhe isﲼofﲽthose whoﲾbelieveﲿand enjoin (each other)ﳀto patienceﳁand enjoin (each other)ﳂto compassionﳃ
and—above all—to be one of those who have faith and urge each other to perseverance and urge each other to compassion.

ﳄThoseﳅ(are the) companionsﳆ(of) the right (hand)ﳇ
These are the people of the right.
