2:62

ﱁIndeedﱂthose whoﱃbelievedﱄand those whoﱅbecame Jewsﱆand the Christiansﱇand the Sabians ﱈwhoﱉbelievedﱊin Allahﱋand the Dayﱌ[the] Lastﱍand didﱎrighteous deedsﱏso for themﱐtheir rewardﱑ(is) withﱒtheir Lordﱓand noﱔfearﱕon themﱖand notﱗtheyﱘwill grieveﱙ(62)

Indeed, the believers, Jews, Christians, and Sabians1—whoever ˹truly˺ believes in Allah and the Last Day and does good will have their reward with their Lord. And there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve.2

2:63

ﱚAnd whenﱛWe tookﱜyour covenantﱝand We raisedﱞover youﱟthe mountﱠHoldﱡwhatﱢWe have given youﱣwith strengthﱤand rememberﱥwhatﱦ(is) in itﱧperhaps youﱨ(would become) righteousﱩ(63)

And ˹remember˺ when We took a covenant from you and raised the mountain above you ˹saying˺, “Hold firmly to that ˹Scripture˺ which We have given you and observe its teachings so perhaps you will become mindful ˹of Allah˺.”

2:64

ﱪThenﱫyou turned awayﱬfromﱭafterﱮﱯthatﱰSo if notﱱ(for the) Graceﱲ(of) Allahﱳupon youﱴand His Mercyﱵsurely you would have beenﱶofﱷthe losersﱸ(64)

Yet you turned away afterwards. Had it not been for Allah’s grace and mercy upon you, you would have certainly been of the losers.

2:65

ﱹAnd indeedﱺyou knewﱻthose whoﱼtransgressedﱽamong youﱾinﱿthe (matter of) SabbathﲀSo We saidﲁto themﲂBeﲃapesﲄdespisedﲅ(65)

You are already aware of those of you who broke the Sabbath. We said to them, “Be disgraced apes!”1

2:66

ﲆSo We made itﲇa deterrent punishmentﲈfor thoseﲉ(in) frontﲊ(of) themﲋand thoseﲌafter themﲍand an admonitionﲎfor those who fear (Allah)ﲏ(66)

So We made their fate an example to present and future generations, and a lesson to the God-fearing.

2:67

ﲐAnd whenﲑsaidﲒMusaﲓto his peopleﲔIndeedﲕAllahﲖcommands youﲗthatﲘyou slaughterﲙﲚa cowﲛThey saidﲜDo you take usﲝﲞ(in) ridiculeﲟHe saidﲠI seek refugeﲡin AllahﲢthatﲣI beﲤamongﲥthe ignorantﲦ(67)

And ˹remember˺ when Moses said to his people, “Allah commands you to sacrifice a cow.”1 They replied, “Are you mocking us?” Moses responded, “I seek refuge in Allah from acting foolishly!”

2:68

ﲧThey saidﲨPrayﲩfor usﲪ(to) your Lordﲫto make clearﲬto usﲭwhatﲮﲯit (is)ﲰHe saidﲱIndeed, Heﲲsaysﲳ[Indeed] itﲴ(is) a cowﲵnotﲶoldﲷand notﲸyoungﲹmiddle agedﲺbetweenﲻﲼthatﲽso doﲾwhatﲿyou are commandedﳀ(68)

They said, “Call upon your Lord to clarify for us what type ˹of cow˺ it should be!” He replied, “Allah says, ‘The cow should neither be old nor young but in between. So do as you are commanded!’”

2:69

ﳁThey saidﳂPrayﳃfor usﳄ(to) your Lordﳅto make clearﳆto usﳇwhatﳈﳉ(is) its colorﳊHe saidﳋIndeed, Heﳌsaysﳍ'[Indeed] it isﳎa cowﳏyellowﳐbrightﳑ(in) its colorﳒpleasingﳓ(to) those who see (it).'ﳔ(69)

They said, “Call upon your Lord to specify for us its colour.” He replied, “Allah says, ‘It should be a bright yellow cow—pleasant to see.’”
