ﱁThey saidﱂPrayﱃfor usﱄ(to) your Lordﱅto make clearﱆto usﱇwhatﱈit (is)ﱉIndeedﱊ[the] cowsﱋlook alikeﱌto usﱍAnd indeed weﱎifﱏwillsﱐAllahﱑ(will) surely be those who are guidedﱒ(70)
Again they said, “Call upon your Lord so that He may make clear to us which cow, for all cows look the same to us. Then, Allah willing, we will be guided ˹to the right one˺.”
2:71
ﱓHe saidﱔIndeed, Heﱕsaysﱖ[Indeed] itﱗ(is) a cowﱘnotﱙtrainedﱚto ploughﱛthe earthﱜand notﱝwaterﱞthe fieldﱟsoundﱠnoﱡblemishﱢﱣin itﱤThey saidﱥNowﱦyou have comeﱧﱨwith the truthﱩSo they slaughtered itﱪand notﱫthey were nearﱬ(to) doing (it)ﱭ(71)
He replied, “Allah says, ‘It should have been used neither to till the soil nor water the fields; wholesome and without blemish.’” They said, “Now you have come with the truth.” Yet they still slaughtered it hesitantly!
2:72
ﱮAnd whenﱯyou killedﱰa manﱱthen you disputedﱲﱳconcerning itﱴbut Allahﱵ(is) the One Who brought forthﱶwhatﱷyou wereﱸconcealingﱹ(72)
˹This is˺ when a man was killed and you disputed who the killer was, but Allah revealed what you concealed.
2:73
ﱺSo We saidﱻStrike himﱼﱽwith a part of itﱾLike thisﱿrevivesﲀAllahﲁthe deadﲂand shows youﲃHis Signsﲄperhaps you mayﲅuse your intellectﲆ(73)
So We instructed, “Strike the dead body with a piece of the cow.” This is how ˹easily˺ Allah brings the dead to life, showing you His signs so that you may understand.
2:74
ﲇThenﲈhardenedﲉyour heartsﲊfromﲋafterﲌthatﲍso theyﲎ(became) like [the] stonesﲏorﲐstrongerﲑﲒ(in) hardnessﲓAnd indeedﲔfromﲕthe stonesﲖcertainly (there are some) whichﲗgush forthﲘfrom itﲙﲚ[the] riversﲛand indeedﲜfrom themﲝcertainly (there are some) whichﲞsplitﲟso comes outﲠfrom itﲡﲢ[the] waterﲣand indeedﲤfrom themﲥcertainly (there are some) whichﲦfall downﲧfromﲨfearﲩﲪ(of) AllahﲫAnd notﲬ(is) Allahﲭunawareﲮof whatﲯyou doﲰ(74)
Even then your hearts became hardened like a rock or even harder, for some rocks gush rivers; others split, spilling water; while others are humbled in awe of Allah. And Allah is never unaware of what you do.
2:75
ﲱ ﲲDo you hopeﲳthatﲴthey will believeﲵ[for] youﲶwhile indeedﲷ(there) has beenﲸa partyﲹof themﲺ(who used to) hearﲻ(the) wordsﲼ(of) Allahﲽthenﲾthey distort itﲿfromﳀafterﳁ[what]ﳂthey understood itﳃwhile theyﳄknowﳅ(75)
Do you ˹believers still˺ expect them to be true to you, though a group of them would hear the word of Allah then knowingly corrupt it after understanding it?
2:76
ﳆAnd whenﳇthey meetﳈthose whoﳉbelieve[d]ﳊthey sayﳋWe have believedﳌBut whenﳍmeet in privateﳎsome of themﳏwithﳐsome (others)ﳑthey sayﳒDo you tell themﳓwhatﳔhasﳕAllahﳖto youﳗso that they argue with youﳘtherewithﳙbeforeﳚﳛyour LordﳜThen do (you) notﳝunderstandﳞ(76)
When they meet the believers they say, “We believe.” But in private they say ˹to each other˺, “Will you disclose to the believers the knowledge Allah has revealed to you,1 so that they may use it against you before your Lord? Do you not understand?”
