4:148

ﱁ ﱂ(Does) notloveAllahthe public mentionof [the] evil[of][the] wordsexcept(by the one) whoﱋﱌhas been wrongedAnd isAllahAll-HearingAll-Knowing(148)

Allah does not like negative thoughts to be voiced—except by those who have been wronged.1 Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

4:149

Ifyou disclosea goodoryou conceal itorpardon[of]an evilthen indeedAllahisOft-PardoningAll-Powerful(149)

Whether you reveal or conceal a good or pardon an evil—surely Allah is Ever-Pardoning, Most Capable.

4:150

Indeedthose whodisbelievein Allahand His Messengersand they wishthatthey differentiatebetweenAllahand His Messengersand they sayWe believein someand we disbelievein othersAnd they wishthatthey takebetweenthata way(150)

Surely those who deny Allah and His messengers and wish to make a distinction between Allah and His messengers,1 saying, “We believe in some and disbelieve in others,” desiring to forge a compromise,

4:151

Those they(are) the disbelieversﱻﱼtrulyAnd We have preparedfor the disbelieversﱿa punishmenthumiliating(151)

they are indeed the true disbelievers. And We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment.

4:152

And those whobelievein Allahand His Messengersand notthey differentiatebetween(any) oneof themthose soonHe will give themﲎﲏtheir rewardAnd isAllahOft-ForgivingMost Merciful(152)

As for those who believe in Allah and His messengers—accepting all; rejecting none—He will surely give them their rewards. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

4:153

Ask you(the) People(of) the Bookthatyou bring downto thema bookfromﲝﲞthe heavenThen indeedthey (had) askedMusagreaterthanthatfor they saidShow usAllahmanifestlyso struck themthe thunderboltﲫﲬfor their wrongdoingThenthey tookthe calf (for worship)fromafter[what]came to themthe clear proofsthen We forgave themforﲷﲸthatAnd We gaveMusaan authorityclear(153)

The People of the Book demand that you ˹O Prophet˺ bring down for them a revelation in writing from heaven.1 They demanded what is even greater than this from Moses, saying, “Make Allah visible to us!” So a thunderbolt struck them for their wrongdoing. Then they took the calf for worship after receiving clear signs. Still We forgave them for that ˹after their repentance˺ and gave Moses compelling proof.

4:154

And We raisedﲿover themthe mountfor their covenantand We saidto themEnterthe gateprostratingAnd We saidto them(Do) nottransgressinthe SabbathAnd We tookfrom thema covenantsolemn(154)

We raised the Mount over them ˹as a warning˺ for ˹breaking˺ their covenant and said, “Enter the gate ˹of Jerusalem˺ with humility.” We also warned them, “Do not break the Sabbath,” and took from them a firm covenant.
