ﱁThey saidﱂO MusaﱃIndeed, weﱄneverﱅwill enter itﱆeverﱇforﱈas long as they areﱉin itﱊSo goﱋyouﱌand your Lordﱍand you both fightﱎIndeed, weﱏare [here]ﱐsittingﱑ(24)
˹Yet˺ they said, “O Moses! ˹Still˺ we will never enter as long as they remain there. So go—both you and your Lord—and fight; we are staying right here!”
5:25
ﱒHe saidﱓO my LordﱔIndeed, Iﱕ(do) notﱖ(have) powerﱗexceptﱘ(over) myselfﱙﱚand my brotherﱛso (make a) separationﱜbetween usﱝand betweenﱞthe peopleﱟ(the) defiantly disobedientﱠ(25)
Moses pleaded, “My Lord! I have no control over anyone except myself and my brother. So set us apart from the rebellious people.”
Allah replied, “Then this land is forbidden to them for forty years, during which they will wander through the land. So do not grieve for the rebellious people.”
5:27
ﱳ ﱴAnd reciteﱵto themﱶthe storyﱷ(of) two sonsﱸ(of) Adamﱹin truthﱺwhenﱻboth offeredﱼa sacrificeﱽand it was acceptedﱾfromﱿone of themﲀand notﲁwas acceptedﲂfromﲃthe otherﲄSaid (the latter)ﲅﲆSurely I will kill youﲇSaid (the former)ﲈOnlyﲉacceptsﲊ(does) Allahﲋfromﲌthe God fearingﲍ(27)
Relate to them in truth ˹O Prophet˺ the story of Adam’s two sons—how each offered a sacrifice: one’s offering was accepted while the other’s was not, so he threatened ˹his brother˺, “I will kill you!” His brother replied, “Allah only accepts ˹the offering˺ of the sincerely devout.
If you raise your hand to kill me, I will not raise mine to kill you, because I fear Allah—the Lord of all worlds.
5:29
ﲠIndeed, Iﲡwishﲢthatﲣyou be ladenﲤwith my sinﲥand your sinﲦso you will beﲧamongﲨ(the) companionsﲩﲪ(of) the Fireﲫand thatﲬ(is the) recompenseﲭ(of) the wrong-doersﲮ(29)
I want to let you bear your sin against me along with your other sins, then you will be one of those destined to the Fire. And that is the reward of the wrongdoers.”
Still, the other convinced himself to kill his own brother, so he killed him—becoming a loser.
5:31
ﲹThen (was) sentﲺ(by) Allahﲻa crowﲼit (was) scratchingﲽinﲾthe earthﲿto show himﳀhowﳁto hideﳂ(the) dead bodyﳃﳄ(of) his brotherﳅHe saidﳆWoe to meﳇAm I unableﳈthatﳉI can beﳊlikeﳋthisﳌ[the] crowﳍand hideﳎ(the) dead bodyﳏﳐ(of) my brotherﳑThen he becameﳒofﳓthe regretfulﳔ(31)
Then Allah sent a crow digging ˹a grave˺ in the ground ˹for a dead crow˺, in order to show him how to bury the corpse of his brother. He cried, “Alas! Have I ˹even˺ failed to be like this crow and bury the corpse of my brother?” So he became regretful.1
