5:51

ﱁ ﱂO youﱃwhoﱄbelieveﱅ(Do) notﱆtakeﱇthe Jewsﱈand the Christiansﱉﱊ(as) alliesﱋSome of themﱌ(are) alliesﱍﱎ(to) othersﱏAnd whoeverﱐtakes them as alliesﱑamong youﱒthen indeed, heﱓﱔ(is) of themﱕIndeedﱖAllahﱗ(does) notﱘguideﱙthe peopleﱚthe wrongdoingﱛ(51)

O believers! Take neither Jews nor Christians as guardians—they are guardians of each other.1 Whoever does so will be counted as one of them. Surely Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.

5:52

ﱜAnd you seeﱝthose ﱞinﱟtheir heartsﱠ(is) a diseaseﱡthey hastenﱢto themﱣsayingﱤWe fearﱥthatﱦ(may) strike usﱧﱨa misfortuneﱩBut perhapsﱪAllahﱫ[that]ﱬwill bringﱭthe victoryﱮorﱯa decisionﱰfromﱱ(of) HimﱲThen they will becomeﱳforﱴwhatﱵthey had concealedﱶwithinﱷthemselvesﱸregretfulﱹ(52)

You see those with sickness in their hearts racing for their guardianship, saying ˹in justification˺, “We fear a turn of fortune will strike us.” But perhaps Allah will bring about ˹your˺ victory or another favour by His command, and they will regret what they have hidden in their hearts.

5:53

ﱺAnd will sayﱻthose whoﱼbelieveﱽAre theseﱾthose whoﱿsworeﲀby Allahﲁstrongestﲂ(of) their oathsﲃindeed, theyﲄﲅ(were) with youﲆBecame worthlessﲇtheir deedsﲈand they becameﲉ(the) losersﲊ(53)

˹Only then,˺ the believers will ask ˹one another˺, “Are these the ones who swore solemn oaths by Allah that they were with you?” Their deeds have been in vain, so they have become losers.

5:54

ﲋO youﲌwhoﲍbelieveﲎWhoeverﲏturns backﲐamong youﲑfromﲒhis religionﲓthen soonﲔ(will be) broughtﲕ(by) Allahﲖa peopleﲗwhom He lovesﲘand they love Himﲙhumbleﲚtowardsﲛthe believersﲜ(and) sternﲝtowardsﲞthe disbelieversﲟstrivingﲠinﲡ(the) wayﲢ(of) Allahﲣand notﲤfearingﲥthe blameﲦﲧ(of) a criticﲨThatﲩ(is the) Graceﲪ(of) AllahﲫHe grantsﲬwhomﲭﲮHe willsﲯAnd Allahﲰ(is) All-EncompassingﲱAll-Knowingﲲ(54)

O believers! Whoever among you abandons their faith, Allah will replace them with others who love Him and are loved by Him. They will be humble with the believers but firm towards the disbelievers, struggling in the Way of Allah; fearing no blame from anyone. This is the favour of Allah. He grants it to whoever He wills. And Allah is All-Bountiful, All-Knowing.

5:55

ﲳOnlyﲴyour allyﲵ(is) Allahﲶand His Messengerﲷand those whoﲸbelieveﲹand those whoﲺestablishﲻthe prayerﲼand giveﲽzakahﲾand theyﲿ(are) those who bow downﳀ(55)

Your only guardians are Allah, His Messenger, and fellow believers—who establish prayer and pay alms-tax with humility.

5:56

ﳁAnd whoeverﳂtakes as an allyﳃAllahﳄand His Messengerﳅand those whoﳆbelieveﳇthen indeedﳈ(the) partyﳉ(of) Allah ﳊtheyﳋ(are) the victoriousﳌ(56)

Whoever allies themselves with Allah, His Messenger, and fellow believers, then it is certainly Allah’s party that will prevail.

5:57

ﳍO youﳎwhoﳏbelieveﳐ(Do) notﳑtakeﳒthose whoﳓtakeﳔyour religionﳕ(in) ridiculeﳖand funﳗfromﳘthose whoﳙare givenﳚthe Bookﳛfromﳜbefore youﳝand the disbelieversﳞﳟ(as) alliesﳠAnd fearﳡAllahﳢifﳣyou areﳤbelieversﳥ(57)

O believers! Do not seek the guardianship of those given the Scripture before you and the disbelievers who have made your faith a mockery and amusement. And be mindful of Allah if you are ˹truly˺ believers.
