5:58

ﱁAnd whenﱂyou make a callﱃforﱄthe prayerﱅthey take itﱆ(in) ridiculeﱇﱈand funﱉThatﱊ(is) because theyﱋ(are) a peopleﱌ(who do) notﱍunderstandﱎ(58)

When you call to prayer, they mock it in amusement. This is because they are a people without understanding.

5:59

ﱏSayﱐO Peopleﱑ(of) the BookﱒDoﱓyou resentﱔ[of] usﱕexceptﱖthatﱗwe believeﱘin Allahﱙand whatﱚhas been revealedﱛto usﱜand whatﱝwas revealedﱞfromﱟbeforeﱠand thatﱡmost of youﱢ(are) defiantly disobedientﱣ(59)

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “O People of the Book! Do you resent us only because we believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what was revealed before—while most of you are rebellious?”

5:60

ﱤSayﱥShallﱦI inform youﱧ(of) worseﱨthanﱩthatﱪ(as) recompenseﱫfromﱬﱭAllahﱮWhomﱯhas (been) cursedﱰ(by) Allahﱱand He became angryﱲwith himﱳand madeﱴof themﱵ[the] apesﱶand [the] swinesﱷand (who) worshippedﱸﱹthe false deitiesﱺThoseﱻ(are) worseﱼ(in) positionﱽand farthest astrayﱾfromﱿ(the) evenﲀwayﲁ(60)

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Shall I inform you of those who deserve a worse punishment from Allah ˹than the rebellious˺? It is those who earned Allah’s condemnation and displeasure—some being reduced to apes and pigs1 and worshippers of false gods. These are far worse in rank and farther astray from the Right Way.”

5:61

ﲂAnd whenﲃthey come to youﲄthey sayﲅWe believeﲆBut certainlyﲇthey enteredﲈwith disbeliefﲉand theyﲊcertainlyﲋwent outﲌﲍwith itﲎAnd Allahﲏknows bestﲐ[of] whatﲑthey wereﲒhidingﲓ(61)

When they come to you ˹believers˺ they say, “We believe.” But they are committed to disbelief when they enter and when they leave. And Allah knows what they hide.

5:62

ﲔAnd you seeﲕmanyﲖof themﲗhasteningﲘintoﲙ[the] sinﲚand [the] transgressionﲛand eatingﲜﲝthe forbiddenﲞSurely evilﲟ(is) whatﲠthey wereﲡdoingﲢ(62)

You see many of them racing towards sin, transgression, and consumption of forbidden gain. Evil indeed are their actions!

5:63

ﲣWhy (do) notﲤforbid themﲥthe Rabbisﲦand the religious scholarsﲧfromﲨtheir sayingﲩthe sinfulﲪand their eatingﲫﲬ(of) the forbiddenﲭSurely, evilﲮ(is) whatﲯthey used toﲰdoﲱ(63)

Why do their rabbis and scholars not forbid them from saying what is sinful and consuming what is unlawful? Evil indeed is their inaction!

5:64

ﲲAnd saidﲳthe JewsﲴThe Handﲵ(of) Allahﲶﲷ(is) chainedﲸAre chainedﲹtheir handsﲺand they have been cursedﲻfor whatﲼﲽthey saidﲾNayﲿHis Handsﳀ(are) stretched outﳁHe spendsﳂhowﳃﳄHe willsﳅAnd surely increaseﳆmanyﳇof themﳈwhatﳉhas been revealedﳊto youﳋfromﳌyour Lordﳍ(in) rebellionﳎﳏand disbeliefﳐAnd We have castﳑamong themﳒ[the] enmityﳓand [the] hatredﳔtillﳕ(the) Dayﳖﳗ(of) the ResurrectionﳘEvery timeﳙthey kindledﳚ(the) fireﳛof [the] warﳜit (was) extinguishedﳝﳞ(by) AllahﳟAnd they striveﳠinﳡthe earthﳢﳣspreading corruptionﳤAnd Allahﳥ(does) notﳦloveﳧthe corruptersﳨ(64)

˹Some among˺ the Jews said, “Allah is tight-fisted.”1 May their fists be tied and they be condemned for what they said. Rather, He is open-handed, giving freely as He pleases. That which has been revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ from your Lord will only cause many of them to increase in wickedness and disbelief. We have stirred among them hostility and hatred until the Day of Judgment. Whenever they kindle the fire of war, Allah puts it out. And they strive to spread corruption in the land. And Allah does not like corruptors.
