2:89

ﱁAnd whenﱂcame to themﱃa BookﱄofﱅfromﱆAllahﱇconfirmingﱈwhat (was)ﱉwith themﱊthough they used toﱋfromﱌbeforeﱍ(that), pray for victoryﱎoverﱏthose whoﱐdisbelieved ﱑthen whenﱒcame to themﱓwhatﱔthey recognizedﱕthey disbelievedﱖﱗin itﱘSo (the) curseﱙ(of) Allahﱚ(is) onﱛthe disbelieversﱜ(89)

Although they used to pray for victory ˹by means of the Prophet˺ over the polytheists,1 when there came to them a Book from Allah which they recognized,2 confirming the Scripture they had ˹in their hands˺, they rejected it. So may Allah’s condemnation be upon the disbelievers.

2:90

ﱝEvil (is) thatﱞ(for) which they have soldﱟwithﱠthemselvesﱡthatﱢthey disbelieveﱣin whatﱤhas revealedﱥAllahﱦgrudgingﱧthatﱨsends downﱩAllahﱪofﱫHis GraceﱬonﱭwhomﱮHe willsﱯfromﱰﱱHis servantsﱲSo they have drawn (on themselves)ﱳwrathﱴuponﱵﱶwrathﱷAnd for the disbelieversﱸ(is) a punishmentﱹhumiliatingﱺ(90)

Miserable is the price they have sold their souls for—denying Allah’s revelation and resenting Allah for granting His grace to whoever He wills of His servants! They have earned wrath upon wrath. And such disbelievers will suffer a humiliating punishment.

2:91

ﱻAnd whenﱼit is saidﱽto themﱾBelieveﱿin whatﲀhas revealedﲁAllahﲂthey sayﲃWe believeﲄin whatﲅwas revealedﲆto usﲇAnd they disbelieveﲈin whatﲉ(is) besides itﲊwhile itﲋ(is) the truthﲌconfirmingﲍwhatﲎﲏ(is) with themﲐSayﲑThen whyﲒ(did) you killﲓ(the) Prophetsﲔ(of) Allahﲕfromﲖbeforeﲗifﲘyou wereﲙbelieversﲚ(91)

When it is said to them: “Believe in what Allah has revealed,” they reply, “We only believe in what was sent down to us,” and they deny what came afterwards, though it is the truth confirming their own Scriptures! Ask ˹them, O  Prophet˺, “Why then did you kill Allah’s prophets before, if you are ˹truly˺ believers?”

2:92

ﲛ ﲜAnd indeedﲝcame to youﲞMusaﲟwith [the] clear signsﲠthenﲡyou tookﲢthe calfﲣfromﲤafter himﲥand youﲦ(were) wrongdoersﲧ(92)

Indeed, Moses came to you with clear proofs, then you worshipped the calf in his absence, acting wrongfully.

2:93

ﲨAnd whenﲩWe tookﲪyour covenantﲫand We raisedﲬover youﲭthe mountﲮHoldﲯwhatﲰWe gave youﲱwith firmnessﲲﲳand listenﲴThey saidﲵWe heardﲶand we disobeyedﲷAnd they were made to drinkﲸinﲹtheir heartsﲺ(love of) the calfﲻﲼbecause of their disbeliefﲽSayﲾEvil (is) thatﲿorders you (to do) itﳀwithﳁyour faithﳂifﳃyou areﳄbelieversﳅ(93)

And when We took your covenant and raised the mountain above you ˹saying˺, “Hold firmly to that ˹Scripture˺ which We have given you and obey,” they answered, “We hear and disobey.” The love of the calf was rooted in their hearts because of their disbelief. Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “How evil is what your ˹so-called˺ belief prompts you to do, if you ˹actually˺ believe ˹in the Torah˺!”
