7. Al-A'rafThe Heights

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful

7:1

Alif Laam Meem Saad(1)

Alif-Lãm-Mĩm-Ṣãd.

7:2

(This is) a Bookrevealedto youso (let) notbeinyour breastany uneasinessfrom itthat you warnwith itand a reminderfor the believers(2)

˹This is˺ a Book sent down to you ˹O Prophet˺—do not let anxiety into your heart regarding it—so with it you may warn ˹the disbelievers˺, and as a reminder to the believers.

7:3

Followwhathas been revealedto youfromyour Lordand (do) notfollowfrombeside Himﱛﱜany alliesLittle(is) whatyou remember(3)

Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and do not take others as guardians besides Him. How seldom are you mindful!

7:4

And how manyofa cityWe destroyed itand came to itOur punishment(at) nightor(while) theywere sleeping at noon(4)

˹Imagine˺ how many societies We have destroyed! Our torment took them by surprise ˹while sleeping˺ at night or midday.

7:5

Then notwastheir pleawhencame to themOur punishmentexceptthatthey saidIndeed, wewerewrongdoers(5)

Their only cry—when overwhelmed by Our torment—was, “We have indeed been wrongdoers.”

7:6

Then surely We will questionthose (to) whomwere sentto them (Messengers)and surely We will questionthe Messengersﱿ(6)

We will surely question those who received messengers and We will question the messengers ˹themselves˺.

7:7

Then surely We will narrateto themﲂﲃwith knowledgeand notwere Weabsent(7)

Then We will give them a full account with sure knowledge—for We were never absent.

7:8

And the weighingthat dayﲊﲋ(will be) the truthSo whose (will be) heavyhis scalesthen those[they](will be) the successful ones(8)

The weighing on that Day will be just. As for those whose scale will be heavy ˹with good deeds˺, ˹only˺ they will be successful.

7:9

And (for) those(will be) lighthis scalesso those(will be) the ones wholostthemselvesbecausethey wereto Our Verses(doing) injustice(9)

But those whose scale is light, they have doomed themselves for wrongfully denying Our signs.

7:10

And certainlyWe established youinthe earthand We madefor youin itﲦﲧlivelihoodLittle(is) whatyou (are) grateful(10)

We have indeed established you on earth and provided you with a means of livelihood. ˹Yet˺ you seldom give any thanks.

7:11

And certainlyWe created youthenWe fashioned youThenWe saidto the AngelsProstrateto AdamSo they prostratedexceptIblisNothe wasofthose who prostrated(11)

Surely We created you,1 then shaped you, then said to the angels, “Prostrate before Adam,” so they all did—but not Iblîs,2 who refused to prostrate with the others.
