9:37

ﱁIndeedﱂthe postponingﱃ(is) an increaseﱄinﱅﱆthe disbeliefﱇare led astrayﱈby itﱉthose whoﱊdisbelieveﱋThey make it lawfulﱌone yearﱍand make it unlawfulﱎ(another) yearﱏto adjustﱐthe numberﱑwhichﱒAllah has made unlawfulﱓAllah has made unlawfulﱔand making lawfulﱕwhatﱖAllah has made unlawfulﱗﱘAllah has made unlawfulﱙIs made fair-seemingﱚto themﱛ(the) evilﱜﱝ(of) their deedsﱞAnd Allahﱟ(does) notﱠguideﱡthe people ﱢthe disbelieversﱣ(37)

Reallocating the sanctity of ˹these˺ months1 is an increase in disbelief, by which the disbelievers are led ˹far˺ astray. They adjust the sanctity one year and uphold it in another, only to maintain the number of months sanctified by Allah, violating the very months Allah has made sacred. Their evil deeds have been made appealing to them. And Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.

9:38

ﱤO you who believeﱥO you who believeﱦO you who believeﱧWhatﱨ(is the matter) with youﱩwhenﱪit is saidﱫto youﱬgo forthﱭinﱮ(the) wayﱯ(of) Allahﱰyou cling heavilyﱱtoﱲﱳthe earthﱴAre you pleasedﱵwith the lifeﱶ(of) the worldﱷ(rather) thanﱸﱹthe HereafterﱺBut whatﱻ(is the) enjoymentﱼ(of) the lifeﱽ(of) the worldﱾin (comparison to)ﱿthe hereafterﲀexceptﲁa littleﲂ(38)

O believers! What is the matter with you that when you are asked to march forth in the cause of Allah, you cling firmly to ˹your˺ land?1 Do you prefer the life of this world over the Hereafter? The enjoyment of this worldly life is insignificant compared to that of the Hereafter.

9:39

ﲃIf notﲄyou go forthﲅHe will punish youﲆ(with) a painful punishmentﲇ(with) a painful punishmentﲈand will replace youﲉ(with) a peopleﲊother than youﲋand notﲌyou can harm Himﲍﲎ(in) anythingﲏAnd Allahﲐ(is) onﲑeveryﲒthingﲓAll-Powerfulﲔ(39)

If you do not march forth, He will afflict you with a painful torment and replace you with other people. You are not harming Him in the least. And Allah is Most Capable of everything.

9:40

ﲕIf notﲖyou help himﲗcertainlyﲘAllah helped himﲙAllah helped himﲚwhenﲛdrove him outﲜthose whoﲝdisbelievedﲞthe secondﲟ(of) the twoﲠwhenﲡthey bothﲢ(were) inﲣthe caveﲤwhenﲥhe saidﲦto his companionﲧ(Do) notﲨgrieveﲩindeedﲪAllahﲫﲬ(is) with usﲭThen Allah sent downﲮThen Allah sent downﲯHis tranquilityﲰupon himﲱand supported himﲲwith forcesﲳwhich you did not seeﲴwhich you did not seeﲵand madeﲶ(the) wordﲷ(of) those whoﲸdisbelievedﲹﲺthe lowestﲻwhile (the) Wordﲼ(of) Allahﲽit (is)ﲾﲿthe highestﳀAnd Allahﳁ(is) All-MightyﳂAll-Wiseﳃ(40)

˹It does not matter˺ if you ˹believers˺ do not support him, for Allah did in fact support him when the disbelievers drove him out ˹of Mecca˺ and he was only one of two. While they both were in the cave, he reassured his companion,1 “Do not worry; Allah is certainly with us.” So Allah sent down His serenity upon the Prophet, supported him with forces you ˹believers˺ did not see, and made the word of the disbelievers lowest, while the Word of Allah is supreme. And Allah is Almighty, All-Wise.
