9:112

ﱁThose who turn in repentanceﱂthose who worshipﱃthose who praiseﱄthose who go outﱅthose who bow downﱆthose who prostrateﱇthose who enjoinﱈthe rightﱉand those who forbidﱊ[on]ﱋthe wrongﱌand those who observeﱍ(the) limitsﱎﱏ(of) AllahﱐAnd give glad tidingsﱑ(to) the believersﱒ(112)

˹It is the believers˺ who repent, who are devoted to worship, who praise ˹their Lord˺, who fast, who bow down and prostrate themselves, who encourage good and forbid evil, and who observe the limits set by Allah. And give good news to the believers.

9:113

ﱓNotﱔ(it) isﱕfor the Prophetﱖand those whoﱗbelieveﱘthatﱙthey ask forgivenessﱚfor the polytheistsﱛeven thoughﱜthey beﱝnear of kinﱞnear of kinﱟafterﱠafterﱡ[what]ﱢhas become clearﱣto themﱤthat theyﱥ(are the) companionsﱦ(of) the Hellfireﱧ(113)

It is not ˹proper˺ for the Prophet and the believers to seek forgiveness for the polytheists, even if they were close relatives, after it has become clear to the believers that they are bound for the Hellfire.

9:114

ﱨAnd notﱩwasﱪ(the) asking of forgivenessﱫ(by) Ibrahimﱬfor his fatherﱭexceptﱮbecauseﱯ(of) a promiseﱰhe had promised itﱱ(to) himﱲBut whenﱳit became clearﱴto himﱵthat heﱶ(was) an enemyﱷto Allahﱸhe disassociatedﱹﱺfrom himﱻIndeedﱼIbrahimﱽ(was) compassionateﱾforbearingﱿ(114)

As for Abraham’s prayer for his father’s forgiveness, it was only in fulfilment of a promise he had made to him. But when it became clear to Abraham that his father was an enemy of Allah, he broke ties with him.1 Abraham was truly tender-hearted, forbearing.

9:115

ﲀAnd notﲁisﲂ(for) Allahﲃthat He lets go astrayﲄa peopleﲅafterﲆ[when]ﲇHe has guided themﲈuntilﲉHe makes clearﲊto themﲋwhatﲌﲍthey should fearﲎIndeedﲏAllahﲐ(of) everyﲑthingﲒ(is) All-Knowerﲓ(115)

Allah would never consider a people deviant after He has guided them, until He makes clear to them what they must avoid. Surely Allah has ˹full˺ knowledge of everything.

9:116

ﲔIndeedﲕAllahﲖto Him (belongs)ﲗthe dominionﲘ(of) the heavensﲙﲚand the earthﲛHe gives lifeﲜﲝand He causes deathﲞAnd notﲟfor youﲠbesides Allahﲡbesides Allahﲢbesides Allahﲣanyﲤprotectorﲥand notﲦany helperﲧ(116)

Indeed, to Allah ˹alone˺ belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He gives life and causes death. And besides Allah you have no guardian or helper.

9:117

ﲨVerilyﲩAllah turned (in mercy)ﲪAllah turned (in mercy)ﲫtoﲬthe Prophetﲭand the emigrantsﲮand the helpersﲯ[those] whoﲰfollowed himﲱinﲲ(the) hourﲳ(of) difficultyﲴafterﲵafterﲶ[what]ﲷhad nearlyﲸdeviatedﲹ(the) heartsﲺ(of) a partyﲻof themﲼthenﲽHe turned (in mercy)ﲾﲿto themﳀIndeed, Heﳁto themﳂ(is) Most KindﳃMost Mercifulﳄ(117)

Allah has certainly turned in mercy to the Prophet1 as well as the Emigrants and the Helpers who stood by him in the time of hardship, after the hearts of a group of them had almost faltered. He then accepted their repentance. Surely He is Ever Gracious and Most Merciful to them.
