9:107

ﱁAnd those whoﱂtakeﱃa masjidﱄ(for causing) harmﱅand (for) disbeliefﱆand (for) divisionﱇamongﱈthe believersﱉand (as) a stationﱊfor whoeverﱋwarredﱌ(against) Allahﱍand His MessengerﱎbeforeﱏﱐbeforeﱑAnd surely they will swearﱒNotﱓwe wishﱔexceptﱕﱖthe goodﱗBut Allahﱘbears witnessﱙindeed, theyﱚ(are) surely liarsﱛ(107)

There are also those ˹hypocrites˺ who set up a mosque ˹only˺ to cause harm, promote disbelief, divide the believers, and as a base for those who had previously fought against Allah and His Messenger.1 They will definitely swear, “We intended nothing but good,” but Allah bears witness that they are surely liars.

9:108

ﱜ(Do) notﱝstandﱞin itﱟﱠeverﱡA masjidﱢfoundedﱣonﱤthe righteousnessﱥfromﱦ(the) firstﱧdayﱨ(is) more worthyﱩthatﱪyou standﱫﱬin itﱭWithin itﱮ(are) menﱯwho loveﱰtoﱱﱲpurify themselvesﱳand Allahﱴlovesﱵthe ones who purify themselvesﱶ(108)

Do not ˹O Prophet˺ ever pray in it. Certainly, a mosque founded on righteousness from the first day is more worthy of your prayers. In it are men who love to be purified.1 And Allah loves those who purify themselves.

9:109

ﱷThen is (one) whoﱸfoundedﱹhis buildingﱺonﱻrighteousnessﱼfromﱽAllahﱾand (His) pleasureﱿbetterﲀorﲁ(one) whoﲂfoundedﲃhis buildingﲄonﲅedgeﲆ(of) a cliffﲇ(about to) collapseﲈso it collapsedﲉwith himﲊinﲋ(the) Fireﲌﲍ(of) HellﲎAnd Allahﲏ(does) notﲐguideﲑthe wrongdoing peopleﲒthe wrongdoing peopleﲓ(109)

Which is better: those who laid the foundation of their building on the fear and pleasure of Allah, or those who did so on the edge of a crumbling cliff that tumbled down with them into the Fire of Hell? And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.

9:110

ﲔNotﲕ(will) ceaseﲖtheir buildingﲗwhichﲘthey builtﲙa (cause of) doubtﲚinﲛtheir heartsﲜexceptﲝthatﲞ(are) cut into piecesﲟﲠtheir heartsﲡAnd Allahﲢ(is) All-KnowerﲣAll-Wiseﲤ(110)

The building which they erected will never cease to fuel hypocrisy in their hearts until their hearts are torn apart. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

9:111

ﲥ ﲦIndeedﲧAllahﲨ(has) purchasedﲩfromﲪthe believersﲫtheir livesﲬand their wealthﲭbecauseﲮfor themﲯﲰ(is) ParadiseﲱThey fightﲲinﲳ(the) wayﲴ(of) Allahﲵthey slayﲶﲷand they are slainﲸA promiseﲹupon Himﲺtrueﲻinﲼthe Tauratﲽand the Injeelﲾﲿand the QuranﳀAnd whoﳁ(is) more faithfulﳂto his promiseﳃthanﳄﳅAllahﳆSo rejoiceﳇin your transactionﳈwhichﳉyou have contractedﳊﳋ[with it]ﳌAnd thatﳍitﳎ(is) the successﳏthe greatﳐ(111)

Allah has indeed purchased from the believers their lives and wealth in exchange for Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah and kill or are killed. This is a true promise binding on Him in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran. And whose promise is truer than Allah’s? So rejoice in the exchange you have made with Him. That is ˹truly˺ the ultimate triumph.
