2:170

ﱁAnd whenﱂit is saidﱃto themﱄFollowﱅwhatﱆhas revealedﱇAllahﱈthey saidﱉNayﱊwe followﱋwhatﱌwe foundﱍ[on it]ﱎﱏour forefathers (following)ﱐEven thoughﱑ[were]ﱒtheir forefathersﱓ(did) notﱔunderstandﱕanythingﱖand notﱗwere they guidedﱘ(170)

When it is said to them, “Follow what Allah has revealed,” they reply, “No! We ˹only˺ follow what we found our forefathers practicing.” ˹Would they still do so,˺ even if their forefathers had ˹absolutely˺ no understanding or guidance?

2:171

ﱙAnd (the) exampleﱚ(of) those whoﱛdisbelieve[d]ﱜ(is) like (the) exampleﱝ(of) the one whoﱞshoutsﱟat whatﱠnotﱡ(does) hearﱢexceptﱣcallsﱤﱥand cries ﱦdeafﱧdumbﱨ(and) blindﱩ[so] theyﱪ(do) notﱫunderstandﱬ(171)

The example of the disbelievers ˹not responding to the Messenger’s warning˺ is like a flock not comprehending the calls and cries of the shepherd. ˹They are wilfully˺ deaf, dumb and blind so they have no understanding.

2:172

ﱭO youﱮwhoﱯbelieve[d]ﱰEatﱱfromﱲ(the) goodﱳ(of) whatﱴWe have provided youﱵand be gratefulﱶto Allahﱷifﱸyouﱹaloneﱺworship Himﱻ(172)

O believers! Eat from the good things We have provided for you. And give thanks to Allah if you ˹truly˺ worship Him ˹alone˺.

2:173

ﱼOnlyﱽHe has forbiddenﱾto youﱿthe dead animalsﲀand [the] bloodﲁand fleshﲂ(of) swineﲃand whatﲄhas been dedicatedﲅ[with it]ﲆto other thanﲇﲈAllahﲉSo whoeverﲊ(is) forced by necessityﲋwithoutﲌ(being) disobedientﲍand notﲎtransgressorﲏthen noﲐsinﲑﲒon himﲓIndeedﲔAllahﲕ(is) Oft-ForgivingﲖMost Mercifulﲗ(173)

He has only forbidden you ˹to eat˺ carrion, blood, swine,1 and what is slaughtered in the name of any other than Allah. But if someone is compelled by necessity—neither driven by desire nor exceeding immediate need—they will not be sinful. Surely Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

2:174

ﲘIndeedﲙthose whoﲚconcealﲛwhatﲜ(has) revealedﲝAllah (has)ﲞofﲟthe Bookﲠand they purchaseﲡthere withﲢa gainﲣlittleﲤThoseﲥnotﲦthey eatﲧinﲨtheir belliesﲩexceptﲪthe FireﲫAnd notﲬwill speak to themﲭAllahﲮ(on the) Dayﲯ(of) [the] Judgmentﲰand notﲱwill He purify themﲲand for themﲳ(is) a punishmentﲴpainfulﲵ(174)

Indeed, those who hide Allah’s revelations, trading them for a fleeting gain consume nothing but fire into their bellies. Allah will neither speak to them on the Day of Judgment, nor will He purify them. And they will suffer a painful punishment.

2:175

ﲶThoseﲷ(are) they whoﲸpurchase[d]ﲹ[the] astrayingﲺfor [the] Guidanceﲻand [the] punishmentﲼﲽfor [the] forgivenessﲾSo what (is)ﲿtheir enduranceﳀonﳁthe Fireﳂ(175)

They are the ones who trade guidance for misguidance and forgiveness for punishment. How persistent are they in pursuit of the Fire!

2:176

ﳃThatﳄ(is) becauseﳅAllahﳆrevealedﳇthe Bookﳈﳉwith [the] TruthﳊAnd indeedﳋthoseﳌwho differedﳍinﳎthe Bookﳏ(are) surely inﳐschismﳑfarﳒ(176)

That is because Allah has revealed the Book in truth. And surely those who differ regarding it are totally engrossed in opposition.
