15:52

ﱁWhenﱂthey enteredﱃupon himﱄand saidﱅPeaceﱆHe saidﱇIndeed, weﱈ(are) of youﱉafraidﱊ(52)

who entered upon him and greeted ˹him with˺, “Peace!” He ˹later˺ said, “Surely we are afraid of you.”1

15:53

ﱋThey saidﱌ(Do) notﱍbe afraidﱎindeed, weﱏ[we] bring glad tidings to youﱐof a boyﱑlearnedﱒ(53)

They reassured ˹him˺, “Do not be afraid! Surely we give you good news of a knowledgeable son.”

15:54

ﱓHe saidﱔDo you give me glad tidingsﱕDo you give me glad tidingsﱖalthoughﱗhas overtaken meﱘold ageﱙThen about whatﱚyou give glad tidingsﱛ(54)

He wondered, “Do you give me good news despite my old age? What unlikely news!”

15:55

ﱜThey saidﱝWe give you glad tidingsﱞin truthﱟso (do) notﱠbeﱡofﱢthe despairingﱣ(55)

They responded, “We give you good news in all truth, so do not be one of those who despair.”

15:56

ﱤHe saidﱥAnd whoﱦdespairsﱧofﱨ(the) Mercyﱩ(of) his Lordﱪexceptﱫthose who are astrayﱬ(56)

He exclaimed, “Who would despair of the mercy of their Lord except the misguided?”

15:57

ﱭHe saidﱮThen whatﱯ(is) your businessﱰO messengersﱱO messengersﱲ(57)

He ˹then˺ added, “What is your mission, O  messenger-angels?”

15:58

ﱳThey saidﱴIndeed, weﱵ[we] have been sentﱶtoﱷa people ﱸcriminalsﱹ(58)

They replied, “We have actually been sent to a wicked people.

15:59

ﱺExceptﱻthe familyﱼof Lutﱽindeed, weﱾsurely will save themﱿallﲀ(59)

As for the family of Lot, we will certainly deliver them all,

15:60

ﲁExceptﲂhis wifeﲃWe have decreedﲄthat sheﲅ(is) surely ofﲆthose who remain behindﲇ(60)

except his wife. We have determined that she will be one of the doomed.”

15:61

ﲈAnd whenﲉcameﲊ(to the) familyﲋ(of) Lutﲌthe messengersﲍ(61)

So when the messenger-angels came to the family of Lot,

15:62

ﲎHe saidﲏIndeed, youﲐ(are) a peopleﲑunknownﲒ(62)

he said, “You must be strangers!”

15:63

ﲓThey saidﲔNayﲕwe have come to youﲖwith whatﲗthey wereﲘin itﲙdisputingﲚ(63)

They responded, “We have come to you with that ˹torment˺ which they have doubted.

15:64

ﲛAnd we have come to youﲜwith the truthﲝand indeed, weﲞsurely (are) truthfulﲟ(64)

We come to you with the truth, and we are certainly truthful.

15:65

ﲠSo travelﲡwith your familyﲢin a portionﲣofﲤthe nightﲥand followﲦtheir backsﲧand notﲨlet look backﲩamong youﲪanyoneﲫand go onﲬwhereﲭyou are orderedﲮ(65)

So travel with your family in the dark of night, and follow ˹closely˺ behind them. Do not let any of you look back, and go where you are commanded.”

15:66

ﲯAnd We conveyedﲰto himﲱ[that]ﲲthe matterﲳthatﲴ(the) rootﲵ(of) theseﲶwould be cut offﲷ(by) early morningﲸ(66)

We revealed to him this decree: “Those ˹sinners˺ will be uprooted in the morning.”

15:67

ﲹAnd cameﲺ(the) peopleﲻ(of) the cityﲼrejoicingﲽ(67)

And there came the men of the city, rejoicing.

15:68

ﲾHe saidﲿIndeedﳀtheseﳁ(are) my guestsﳂso (do) notﳃshame meﳄ(68)

Lot pleaded, “Indeed, these are my guests, so do not embarrass me.

15:69

ﳅAnd fearﳆAllahﳇand (do) notﳈdisgrace meﳉ(69)

Fear Allah and do not humiliate me.”

15:70

ﳊThey saidﳋDid notﳌwe forbid youﳍfromﳎthe worldﳏ(70)

They responded, “Have we not forbidden you from protecting anyone?”
