19:12
ﱁO YahyaﱂHoldﱃthe Scriptureﱄﱅwith strengthﱆAnd We gave himﱇ[the] wisdomﱈ(when he was) a childﱉ(12)
˹It was later said,˺ “O John! Hold firmly to the Scriptures.” And We granted him wisdom while ˹he was still˺ a child,
19:12
ﱁO YahyaﱂHoldﱃthe Scriptureﱄﱅwith strengthﱆAnd We gave himﱇ[the] wisdomﱈ(when he was) a childﱉ(12)
˹It was later said,˺ “O John! Hold firmly to the Scriptures.” And We granted him wisdom while ˹he was still˺ a child,
19:13
ﱊAnd affectionﱋfromﱌUsﱍﱎand purityﱏand he wasﱐrighteousﱑ(13)
as well as purity and compassion from Us. And he was God-fearing,
19:14
ﱒAnd dutifulﱓto his parentsﱔand notﱕhe wasﱖa tyrantﱗdisobedientﱘ(14)
and kind to his parents. He was neither arrogant nor disobedient.
19:15
ﱙAnd peace beﱚupon himﱛ(the) dayﱜhe was bornﱝand (the) dayﱞhe diesﱟand (the) dayﱠhe will be raisedﱡaliveﱢ(15)
Peace be upon him the day he was born, and the day of his death, and the day he will be raised back to life!
19:16
ﱣAnd mentionﱤinﱥthe BookﱦMaryamﱧwhenﱨshe withdrewﱩfromﱪher familyﱫ(to) a placeﱬeasternﱭ(16)
And mention in the Book ˹O Prophet, the story of˺ Mary when she withdrew from her family to a place in the east,
19:17
ﱮThen she tookﱯfrom themﱰfrom themﱱa screenﱲThen We sentﱳto herﱴOur Spiritﱵthen he assumed for her the likenessﱶthen he assumed for her the likenessﱷ(of) a manﱸwell-proportionedﱹ(17)
screening herself off from them. Then We sent to her Our angel, ˹Gabriel,˺ appearing before her as a man, perfectly formed.
19:18
ﱺShe saidﱻIndeed, Iﱼ[I] seek refugeﱽwith the Most Graciousﱾfrom youﱿifﲀyou areﲁGod fearingﲂ(18)
She appealed, “I truly seek refuge in the Most Compassionate from you! ˹So leave me alone˺ if you are God-fearing.”
19:19
ﲃHe saidﲄOnlyﲅI amﲆa Messengerﲇ(from) your Lordﲈthat I (may) bestowﲉon youﲊa sonﲋpureﲌ(19)
He responded, “I am only a messenger from your Lord, ˹sent˺ to bless you with a pure son.”
19:20
ﲍShe saidﲎHowﲏcan beﲐfor meﲑa sonﲒwhen notﲓhas touched meﲔa manﲕand notﲖI amﲗunchasteﲘ(20)
She wondered, “How can I have a son when no man has ever touched me, nor am I unchaste?”
19:21
ﲙHe saidﲚThusﲛsaidﲜyour Lordﲝ'Itﲞ(is) for Meﲟﲠeasyﲡand so that We will make himﲢa signﲣfor the mankindﲤand a Mercyﲥﲦfrom UsﲧAnd (it) isﲨa matterﲩdecreed.'ﲪ(21)
He replied, “So will it be! Your Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me. And so will We make him a sign for humanity and a mercy from Us.’ It is a matter ˹already˺ decreed.”
19:22
ﲫ ﲬSo she conceived himﲭand she withdrewﲮwith himﲯ(to) a placeﲰremoteﲱ(22)
So she conceived him and withdrew with him to a remote place.
19:23
ﲲThen drove herﲳthe pains of childbirthﲴtoﲵ(the) trunkﲶ(of) the date-palmﲷShe saidﲸO! I wishﲹI (had) diedﲺbeforeﲻthisﲼand I wasﲽ(in) oblivionﲾforgottenﲿ(23)
Then the pains of labour drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She cried, “Alas! I wish I had died before this, and was a thing long forgotten!”
19:24
ﳀSo cried to herﳁfromﳂbeneath herﳃThat (do) notﳄgrieveﳅverilyﳆ(has) placedﳇyour Lordﳈbeneath youﳉa streamﳊ(24)
So a voice1 reassured her from below her, “Do not grieve! Your Lord has provided a stream at your feet.
19:25
ﳋAnd shakeﳌtowards youﳍ(the) trunkﳎ(of) the date-palmﳏit will dropﳐupon youﳑfresh datesﳒripeﳓ(25)
And shake the trunk of this palm tree towards you, it will drop fresh, ripe dates upon you.
