20:13

And I(have) chosen youso listento whatis revealed(13)

I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed:

20:14

Indeed, [I]I AmAllah(There is) nogodbutIso worship Meand establishthe prayerfor My remembrance(14)

‘It is truly I. I am Allah! There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Me. So worship Me ˹alone˺, and establish prayer for My remembrance.

20:15

Indeedthe Hour(will be) comingI almost[I] hide itthat may be recompensedeverysoulfor whatit strives(15)

The Hour is sure to come. My Will is to keep it hidden, so that every soul may be rewarded according to their efforts.

20:16

So (do) not(let) avert youfrom it(one) who(does) notbelievein itand followshis desireslest you perish(16)

So do not let those who disbelieve in it and follow their desires distract you from it, or you will be doomed.’”

20:17

And what(is) thatin your right handO Musa(17)

˹Allah added,˺ “And what is that in your right hand, O  Moses?”

20:18

He saidIt(is) my staffI leanupon itand I bring down leaveswith itformy sheepand for mein it(are) usesother(18)

He replied, “It is my staff! I lean on it, and with it I beat down ˹branches˺ for my sheep, and have other uses for it.”1

20:19

He saidThrow it downO Musaﱿ(19)

Allah said, “Throw it down, O  Moses!”

20:20

So he threw it downand beholdIt(was) a snakemoving swiftly(20)

So he did, then—behold!—it became a serpent, slithering.

20:21

He saidSeize itand (do) notﲉﲊfearWe will return it(to) its statethe former(21)

Allah said, “Take it, and have no fear. We will return it to its former state.

20:22

And draw nearyour handtoyour sideit will come outwhitewithout anywithout anydisease(as) a signanother(22)

And put your hand under your armpit, it will come out ˹shining˺ white, unblemished,1 as another sign,

20:23

That We may show youofOur Signsthe Greatest(23)

so that We may show you some of Our greatest signs.

20:24

GotoFiraunIndeed, he(has) transgressed(24)

Go to Pharaoh, for he has truly transgressed ˹all bounds˺.”

20:25

He saidMy LordExpandfor memy breast(25)

Moses prayed, “My Lord! Uplift my heart for me,

20:26

And easefor memy task(26)

and make my task easy,

20:27

And untie(the) knotfrommy tongue(27)

and remove the impediment from my tongue

20:28

That they may understandmy speech(28)

so people may understand my speech,1

20:29

And appointfor mea ministerfrommy family(29)

and grant me a helper from my family,

20:30

Harunﲿmy brother(30)

Aaron, my brother.

20:31

Reinforcethrough himmy strength(31)

Strengthen me through him,

20:32

And make him share[in]my task(32)

and let him share my task,

20:33

Thatwe may glorify Youmuch(33)

so that we may glorify You much

20:34

And [we] remember Youmuch(34)

and remember You much,

20:35

Indeed, [You]You areof usAll-Seer(35)

for truly You have ˹always˺ been overseeing us.”

20:36

He saidVerilyyou are grantedyour requestO Musa(36)

Allah responded, “All that you requested has been granted, O  Moses!

20:37

And indeedWe conferred a favoron youanother timeanother time(37)

And surely We had shown you favour before,
