ﱁ ﱂAnd notﱃWe sent downﱄuponﱅhis peopleﱆafter himﱇafter himﱈanyﱉhostﱊfromﱋthe heavenﱌand notﱍwere Weﱎ(to) send downﱏ(28)
We did not send any soldiers from the heavens against his people after his death, nor did We need to.
36:28
ﱁ ﱂAnd notﱃWe sent downﱄuponﱅhis peopleﱆafter himﱇafter himﱈanyﱉhostﱊfromﱋthe heavenﱌand notﱍwere Weﱎ(to) send downﱏ(28)
We did not send any soldiers from the heavens against his people after his death, nor did We need to.
36:29
ﱐNotﱑit wasﱒbutﱓa shoutﱔoneﱕthen beholdﱖTheyﱗ(were) extinguishedﱘ(29)
All it took was one ˹mighty˺ blast, and they were extinguished at once.
36:30
ﱙAlasﱚforﱛﱜthe servantsﱝNotﱞcame to themﱟanyﱠMessengerﱡbutﱢthey didﱣmock at himﱤmock at himﱥ(30)
Oh pity, such beings! No messenger ever came to them without being mocked.
36:31
ﱦDo notﱧthey seeﱨhow manyﱩWe destroyedﱪbefore themﱫofﱬthe generationsﱭThat theyﱮto themﱯwill not returnﱰwill not returnﱱ(31)
Have the deniers not considered how many peoples We destroyed before them who never came back to life again?
36:32
ﱲAnd surelyﱳallﱴthenﱵtogetherﱶbefore Usﱷ(will be) broughtﱸ(32)
Yet they will all be brought before Us.
36:33
ﱹAnd a Signﱺfor themﱻ(is) the earthﱼdeadﱽWe give it lifeﱾand We bring forthﱿfrom itﲀgrainﲁand from itﲂthey eatﲃ(33)
There is a sign for them in the dead earth: We give it life, producing grain from it for them to eat.
36:34
ﲄAnd We placedﲅthereinﲆgardensﲇofﲈdate-palmsﲉand grapevinesﲊand We caused to gush forthﲋin itﲌofﲍthe springsﲎ(34)
And We have placed in it gardens of palm trees and grapevines, and caused springs to gush forth in it,
36:35
ﲏThat they may eatﲐofﲑits fruitﲒAnd notﲓmade itﲔﲕtheir handsﲖSo will notﲗthey be gratefulﲘ(35)
so that they may eat from its fruit, which they had no hand in making. Will they not then give thanks?
36:36
ﲙGlory beﲚ(to) the One Whoﲛcreatedﲜ(in) pairsﲝallﲞof whatﲟgrowsﲠthe earthﲡand ofﲢthemselvesﲣand of whatﲤnotﲥthey knowﲦ(36)
Glory be to the One Who created all ˹things in˺ pairs—˹be it˺ what the earth produces, their genders, or what they do not know!
36:37
ﲧAnd a Signﲨfor themﲩ(is) the nightﲪWe withdrawﲫfrom itﲬthe dayﲭThen beholdﲮTheyﲯ(are) those in darknessﲰ(37)
There is also a sign for them in the night: We strip from it daylight, then—behold!—they are in darkness.
36:38
ﲱAnd the sunﲲrunsﲳto a term appointedﲴﲵfor itﲶThatﲷ(is the) Decreeﲸ(of) the All-Mightyﲹthe All-Knowingﲺ(38)
The sun travels for its fixed term. That is the design of the Almighty, All-Knowing.
36:39
ﲻAnd the moon ﲼWe have ordained for itﲽphasesﲾuntilﲿit returnsﳀlike the date stalkﳁthe oldﳂ(39)
As for the moon, We have ordained ˹precise˺ phases for it, until it ends up ˹looking˺ like an old, curved palm stalk.
36:40
ﳃNotﳄthe sunﳅis permittedﳆfor it ﳇthatﳈit overtakesﳉthe moonﳊand notﳋthe nightﳌ(can) outstripﳍﳎthe dayﳏbut allﳐinﳑan orbitﳒthey are floatingﳓ(40)
It is not for the sun to catch up with the moon,1 nor does the night outrun the day. Each is travelling in an orbit of their own.
