62. Al-Jumu'ahThe Congregation, Friday

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful

62:1

GlorifiesAllahwhatever(is) inthe heavensand whatever(is) inthe earththe Sovereignthe Holythe All-Mightythe All-Wise(1)

Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth ˹constantly˺ glorifies Allah—the King, the Most Holy, the Almighty, the All-Wise.

62:2

He(is) the One Whosentamongthe unlettereda Messengerfrom themselvesrecitingto themHis Versesand purifying themand teaching themthe Bookand the wisdomalthoughthey werefrombeforesurely inan errorclear(2)

He is the One Who raised for the illiterate ˹people˺ a messenger from among themselves—reciting to them His revelations, purifying them, and teaching them the Book and wisdom, for indeed they had previously been clearly astray—

62:3

And othersamong themwho have not yetjoinedﱨﱩthemand He(is) the All-Mightythe All-Wise(3)

along with others of them who have not yet joined them ˹in faith˺. For He is the Almighty, All-Wise.

62:4

That(is the) Bounty(of) AllahHe gives it(to) whomﱳﱴHe willsAnd Allah(is the) Possessor(of) Bountythe Great(4)

This is the favour of Allah. He grants it to whoever He wills. And Allah is the Lord of infinite bounty.

62:5

(The) likeness(of) those whowere entrusted(with) the Tauratthenﱿnotthey bore it(is) likethe donkeywho carriesﲄﲅbooksWretched is(the) example(of) the peoplewhodeny(the) Signsﲌﲍ(of) AllahAnd Allah(does) notguidethe peoplethe wrongdoers(5)

The example of those who were entrusted with ˹observing˺ the Torah but failed to do so, is that of a donkey carrying books.1 How evil is the example of those who reject Allah’s signs! For Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.

62:6

SayOyou (who)(are) JewsIfyou claimthat you(are) alliesof Allahfromexcludingthe peoplethen wish(for) the deathifyou aretruthful(6)

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “O Jews! If you claim to be Allah’s chosen ˹people˺ out of all humanity, then wish for death, if what you say is true.”

62:7

But notthey will wish for iteverfor what(have) sent forthﲫﲬtheir handsAnd Allah(is) All-Knowingof the wrongdoers(7)

But they will never wish for that because of what their hands have done.1 And Allah has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of the wrongdoers.

62:8

SayIndeedthe deathwhichyou fleefrom itthen surely itﲸﲹ(will) meet youThenyou will be sent backto(the) All-Knower(of) the unseenﲿand the witnessedand He will inform you[of] whatyou used todo(8)

Say, “The death you are running away from will inevitably come to you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the seen and unseen, and He will inform you of what you used to do.”
