68:43

Humbledtheir eyeswill cover themﱄﱅhumiliationAnd indeedthey werecalledtoprostratewhile they(were) sound(43)

with eyes downcast, totally covered with disgrace. For they were ˹always˺ called to prostrate ˹in the world˺ when they were fully capable ˹but they chose not to˺.

68:44

So leave Meand whoeverdeniesthisﱒﱓStatementWe will progressively lead themfromwherenotthey know(44)

So leave to Me ˹O Prophet˺ those who reject this message. We will gradually draw them to destruction in ways they cannot comprehend.

68:45

And I will give respiteﱛﱜto themIndeedMy plan(is) firm(45)

I ˹only˺ delay their end for a while, but My planning is flawless.

68:46

Oryou ask thema paymentso theyfrom(the) debt(are) burdened(46)

Or are you asking them for a reward ˹for the message˺ so that they are overburdened by debt?

68:47

Or(is) with themthe unseenso theywrite it(47)

Or do they have access to ˹the Record in˺ the unseen, so they copy it ˹for all to see˺?

68:48

So be patientfor (the) decision(of) your Lordand (do) notbelike (the) companion(of) the fishwhenhe called outwhile he(was) distressed(48)

So be patient with your Lord’s decree, and do not be like ˹Jonah,˺ the Man of the Whale, who cried out ˹to Allah˺, in total distress.1

68:49

If notthatovertook hima Favorﱿfromhis Lordsurely he would have been thrownonto (the) naked shorewhile he(was) blamed(49)

Had he not been shown grace by his Lord, he would have certainly been cast onto the open ˹shore˺, still blameworthy.

68:50

But chose himhis Lordand made himofthe righteous(50)

Then his Lord chose him, making him one of the righteous.

68:51

And indeedwould almostthose whodisbelievesurely make you slipwith their lookwhenthey hearthe Messageand they sayIndeed, he(is) surely mad(51)

The disbelievers would almost cut you down with their eyes when they hear ˹you recite˺ the Reminder,1 and say, “He is certainly a madman.”

68:52

And notit (is)buta Reminderto the worlds(52)

But it is simply a reminder to the whole world.

69. Al-HaqqahThe Reality

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful

69:1

The Inevitable Reality(1)

The Inevitable Hour!

69:2

What(is) the Inevitable Reality(2)

What is the Inevitable Hour?

69:3

And whatwill make you knowwhat(is) the Inevitable Reality(3)

And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is?

69:4

DeniedThamudand Aadthe Striking Calamity(4)

˹Both˺ Thamûd and ’Ȃd denied the Striking Disaster.1

69:5

So as forThamudthey were destroyedby the overpowering (blast)(5)

As for Thamûd, they were destroyed by an overwhelming blast.

69:6

And as forAadthey were destroyedby a windscreamingviolent(6)

And as for ’Ȃd, they were destroyed by a furious, bitter wind

69:7

Which He imposedupon them(for) sevennightsand eightﲿdaysﳀﳁ(in) successionso you would seethe peoplethereinfallenas if they weretrunks(of) date-palmshollow(7)

which Allah unleashed on them non-stop for seven nights and eight days, so that you would have seen its people lying dead like trunks of uprooted palm trees.

69:8

Then doyou seeof themanyremains(8)

Do you see any of them left alive?
