75:20

NoButyou lovethe immediate(20)

But no! In fact, you love this fleeting world,

75:21

And leavethe Hereafter(21)

and neglect the Hereafter.

75:22

Facesthat Day(will be) radiant(22)

On that Day ˹some˺ faces will be bright,

75:23

Towardstheir Lordlooking(23)

looking at their Lord.

75:24

And facesthat Day(will be) distorted(24)

And ˹other˺ faces will be gloomy,

75:25

Thinkingthatwill be doneto thembackbreaking(25)

anticipating something devastating to befall them.

75:26

NoWhenit reachesthe collar bones(26)

But no! ˹Beware of the day˺ when the soul reaches the collar bone ˹as it leaves˺,

75:27

And it is saidﱡﱢWho(will) cure(27)

and it will be said, “Is there any healer ˹who can save this life˺?”

75:28

And he is certainthat it(is) the parting(28)

And the dying person realizes it is ˹their˺ time to depart,

75:29

And is woundthe legabout the leg(29)

and ˹then˺ their feet are tied together ˹in a shroud˺.

75:30

Toyour Lordthat Day(will be) the driving(30)

On that day they will be driven to your Lord ˹alone˺.

75:31

And nothe accepted (the) truthand nothe prayed(31)

This denier neither believed nor prayed,

75:32

Buthe deniedand turned away(32)

but persisted in denial and turned away,

75:33

Thenhe wenttohis familyﱿswaggering(33)

then went to their own people, walking boastfully.

75:34

Woeto youand woe(34)

Woe to you, and more woe!

75:35

Thenwoeto youand woe(35)

Again, woe to you, and even more woe!

75:36

Does thinkmanthathe will be leftneglected(36)

Do people think they will be left without purpose?

75:37

Was nothea semen-dropofsemenemitted(37)

Were they not ˹once˺ a sperm-drop emitted?

75:38

Thenhe wasa clinging substancethen He createdand proportioned(38)

Then they became a clinging clot,1 then He developed and perfected their form,

75:39

Then madeof himtwo kinds(the) maleand the female(39)

producing from it both sexes, male and female.

75:40

Is not[that](He) Able[over]togive life(to) the dead(40)

Is such ˹a Creator˺ unable to bring the dead back to life?

76. Al-InsanThe Man

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful

76:1

Has(there) comeuponmana periodoftimenothe wasa thingmentioned(1)

Is there not a period of time when each human is nothing yet worth mentioning?1

76:2

Indeed, We[We] createdmanfroma semen-dropa mixture(that) We test himso We made (for) himﲿhearingand sight(2)

˹For˺ indeed, We ˹alone˺ created humans from a drop of mixed fluids,1 ˹in order˺ to test them, so We made them hear and see.

76:3

Indeed, Weguided him(to) the waywhether(he) be gratefuland whether(he) be ungrateful(3)

We already showed them the Way, whether they ˹choose to˺ be grateful or ungrateful.

76:4

Indeed, We[We] have preparedfor the disbelieverschainsand shacklesand a Blazing Fire(4)

Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains, shackles, and a blazing Fire.

76:5

Indeedthe righteouswill drinkfroma cupisits mixture(of) Kafur(5)

Indeed, the virtuous will have a drink ˹of pure wine˺—flavoured with camphor—
