ﱁFor a DayﱂGreatﱃ(5)
for a tremendous Day—
83:6
ﱄ(The) Dayﱅwill standﱆmankindﱇbefore (the) Lordﱈ(of) the worldsﱉ(6)
the Day ˹all˺ people will stand before the Lord of all worlds?
83:7
ﱊNayﱋIndeedﱌ(the) recordﱍ(of) the wickedﱎ(is) surely inﱏSijjinﱐ(7)
But no! The wicked are certainly bound for Sijjîn1 ˹in the depths of Hell˺—
83:8
ﱑAnd whatﱒcan make you knowﱓwhatﱔ(is) Sijjinﱕ(8)
and what will make you realize what Sijjîn is?—
83:9
ﱖA bookﱗwrittenﱘ(9)
a fate ˹already˺ sealed.1
83:10
ﱙWoeﱚthat Dayﱛto the deniersﱜ(10)
Woe on that Day to the deniers—
83:11
ﱝThose whoﱞdenyﱟ(the) Dayﱠ(of) the Judgmentﱡ(11)
those who deny Judgment Day!
83:12
ﱢAnd notﱣcan denyﱤ[of] itﱥexceptﱦeveryﱧtransgressorﱨsinfulﱩ(12)
None would deny it except every evildoing transgressor.
83:13
ﱪWhenﱫare recitedﱬto himﱭOur Versesﱮhe saysﱯStoriesﱰ(of) the former (people)ﱱ(13)
Whenever Our revelations are recited to them, they say, “Ancient fables!”
83:14
ﱲﱳNayﱴﱵButﱶ(the) stain has coveredﱷ[over]ﱸtheir heartsﱹ(for) whatﱺthey used toﱻearnﱼ(14)
But no! In fact, their hearts have been stained by all ˹the evil˺ they used to commit!
83:15
ﱽNayﱾIndeed, theyﱿfromﲀtheir Lordﲁthat Dayﲂsurely will be partitionedﲃ(15)
Undoubtedly, they will be sealed off from their Lord on that Day.
83:16
ﲄThenﲅindeed, theyﲆ(surely) will burnﲇ(in) the Hellfireﲈ(16)
Moreover, they will surely burn in Hell,
83:17
ﲉThenﲊit will be saidﲋThisﲌ(is) whatﲍyou used toﲎ[of it]ﲏdenyﲐ(17)
and then be told, “This is what you used to deny.”
83:18
ﲑNayﲒIndeedﲓ(the) recordﲔ(of) the righteousﲕ(will be) surely inﲖIlliyinﲗ(18)
But no! The virtuous are certainly bound for ’Illiyûn1 ˹in elevated Gardens˺—
83:19
ﲘAnd whatﲙcan make you knowﲚwhatﲛ(is) Illiyunﲜ(19)
and what will make you realize what ’Illiyûn is?—
83:20
ﲝA bookﲞwrittenﲟ(20)
a fate ˹already˺ sealed,
83:21
ﲠWitness itﲡthose brought nearﲢ(21)
witnessed by those nearest ˹to Allah˺.
83:22
ﲣIndeedﲤthe righteousﲥ(will be) surely inﲦblissﲧ(22)
Surely the virtuous will be in bliss,
83:23
ﲨOnﲩthronesﲪobservingﲫ(23)
˹seated˺ on ˹canopied˺ couches, gazing around.
83:24
ﲬYou will recognizeﲭinﲮtheir facesﲯ(the) radianceﲰ(of) blissﲱ(24)
You will recognize on their faces the glow of delight.
83:25
ﲲThey will be given to drinkﲳofﲴa pure wineﲵsealedﲶ(25)
They will be given a drink of sealed, pure wine,
83:26
ﲷIts sealﲸﲹ(will be of) muskﲺAnd forﲻthatﲼlet aspireﲽthe aspirersﲾ(26)
whose last sip will smell like musk. So let whoever aspires to this strive ˹diligently˺.
83:27
ﲿAnd its mixtureﳀ(is) ofﳁTasneemﳂ(27)
And this drink’s flavour will come from Tasnîm—
83:28
ﳃA springﳄwill drinkﳅfrom itﳆthose brought nearﳇ(28)
a spring from which those nearest ˹to Allah˺ will drink.
83:29
ﳈIndeedﳉthose whoﳊcommitted crimesﳋused toﳌatﳍthose whoﳎbelievedﳏlaughﳐ(29)
Indeed, the wicked used to laugh at the believers,
83:30
ﳑAnd whenﳒthey passedﳓby themﳔthey winked at one anotherﳕ(30)
wink to one another whenever they passed by,
83:31
ﳖAnd whenﳗthey returnedﳘtoﳙtheir peopleﳚthey would returnﳛjestingﳜ(31)
and muse ˹over these exploits˺ upon returning to their own people.
83:32
ﳝAnd whenﳞthey saw themﳟthey saidﳠIndeedﳡtheseﳢsurely have gone astrayﳣ(32)
And when they saw the faithful, they would say, “These ˹people˺ are truly astray,”
83:33
ﳤBut notﳥthey had been sentﳦover themﳧ(as) guardiansﳨ(33)
even though they were not sent as keepers over the believers.
