83:34

ﱁSo todayﱂthose whoﱃbelieved ﱄatﱅthe disbelieversﱆthey will laughﱇ(34)

But on that Day the believers will be laughing at the disbelievers,

83:35

ﱈOnﱉthe thronesﱊobservingﱋ(35)

as they sit on ˹canopied˺ couches, looking on.

83:36

ﱌHave (not)ﱍbeen rewardedﱎthe disbelieversﱏ(for) whatﱐthey used toﱑdoﱒ(36)

˹The believers will be asked,˺ “Have the disbelievers ˹not˺ been paid back for what they used to do?”

84:1

ﱓWhenﱔthe skyﱕis split asunderﱖ(1)

When the sky bursts open,

84:2

ﱗAnd has listenedﱘto its Lordﱙand was obligatedﱚ(2)

obeying its Lord as it must,

84:3

ﱛAnd whenﱜthe earthﱝis spreadﱞ(3)

and when the earth is flattened out,

84:4

ﱟAnd has cast outﱠwhatﱡ(is) in itﱢand becomes emptyﱣ(4)

and ejects ˹all˺ its contents1 and becomes empty,

84:5

ﱤAnd has listenedﱥto its Lordﱦand was obligatedﱧ(5)

obeying its Lord as it must, ˹surely you will all be judged˺.

84:6

ﱨOﱩmankindﱪIndeed, youﱫ(are) laboringﱬtoﱭyour Lordﱮ(with) exertionﱯand you (will) meet Himﱰ(6)

O humanity! Indeed, you are labouring restlessly towards your Lord, and will ˹eventually˺ meet the consequences.

84:7

ﱱThen as forﱲ(him) whoﱳis givenﱴhis recordﱵin his right (hand)ﱶ(7)

As for those who are given their record in their right hand,

84:8

ﱷThen soonﱸhis account will be takenﱹan accountﱺeasyﱻ(8)

they will have an easy reckoning,

84:9

ﱼAnd he will returnﱽtoﱾhis peopleﱿhappilyﲀ(9)

and will return to their people joyfully.

84:10

ﲁBut as forﲂ(him) whoﲃis givenﲄhis recordﲅbehindﲆhis backﲇ(10)

And as for those who are given their record ˹in their left hand˺ from behind their backs,

84:11

ﲈThen soonﲉhe will callﲊ(for) destructionﲋ(11)

they will cry for ˹instant˺ destruction,

84:12

ﲌAnd he will burnﲍ(in) a Blazeﲎ(12)

and will burn in the blazing Fire.

84:13

ﲏIndeed, heﲐhad beenﲑamongﲒhis peopleﲓhappyﲔ(13)

For they used to be prideful among their people,

84:14

ﲕIndeed, heﲖ(had) thoughtﲗthatﲘneverﲙhe would returnﲚ(14)

thinking they would never return ˹to Allah˺.

84:15

ﲛﲜYesﲝIndeedﲞhis Lordﲟwasﲠof himﲡAll-Seerﲢ(15)

Yes ˹they would˺! Surely their Lord has always been All-Seeing of them.

84:16

ﲣBut nayﲤI swearﲥby the twilight glowﲦ(16)

So, I do swear by the twilight!

84:17

ﲧAnd the nightﲨand whatﲩit envelopsﲪ(17)

And by the night and whatever it envelops!

84:18

ﲫAnd the moonﲬwhenﲭit becomes fullﲮ(18)

And by the moon when it waxes full!

84:19

ﲯYou will surely embarkﲰ(to) stageﲱfromﲲstageﲳ(19)

You will certainly pass from one state to another.1

84:20

ﲴSo whatﲵ(is) for themﲶnotﲷthey believeﲸ(20)

So what is the matter with them that they do not believe,

84:21

ﲹAnd whenﲺis recitedﳁ(21)ﲻto themﲼthe Quranﲽnotﲾﲿﳀthey prostrate

and when the Quran is recited to them, they do not bow down ˹in submission˺?1

84:22

ﳂNayﳃThose whoﳄdisbelievedﳅdenyﳆ(22)

In fact, the disbelievers persist in denial.

84:23

ﳇAnd Allahﳈ(is) most knowingﳉof whatﳊthey keep within themselvesﳋ(23)

But Allah knows best whatever they hide.

84:24

ﳌso give them tidingsﳍof a punishmentﳎpainfulﳏ(24)

So give them good news of a painful punishment.
