ﱁAnd will avoid itﱂthe wretched oneﱃ(11)
But it will be shunned by the most wretched,

ﱄThe one whoﱅwill burnﱆ(in) the Fireﱇ[the] greatﱈ(12)
who will burn in the greatest Fire,
87:13
ﱉThenﱊnotﱋhe will dieﱌthereinﱍand notﱎwill liveﱏ(13)
where they will not ˹be able to˺ live or die.
87:14
ﱐCertainlyﱑhas succeededﱒ(one) whoﱓpurifies (himself)ﱔ(14)
Successful indeed are those who purify themselves,
87:15
ﱕAnd remembersﱖ(the) nameﱗ(of) his Lordﱘand praysﱙ(15)
remember the Name of their Lord, and pray.
87:16
ﱚNayﱛYou preferﱜthe lifeﱝ(of) the worldﱞ(16)
But you ˹deniers only˺ prefer the life of this world,
87:17
ﱟWhile the Hereafterﱠ(is) betterﱡand everlastingﱢ(17)
even though the Hereafter is far better and more lasting.
87:18
ﱣIndeedﱤthisﱥsurely (is) inﱦthe Scripturesﱧ[the] formerﱨ(18)
This is certainly ˹mentioned˺ in the earlier Scriptures—
87:19
ﱩ(The) Scripturesﱪ(of) Ibrahimﱫand Musaﱬ(19)
the Scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful
88:1
ﱭHasﱮ(there) come to youﱯ(the) newsﱰ(of) the Overwhelmingﱱ(1)
Has the news of the Overwhelming Event reached you ˹O Prophet˺?
88:2
ﱲFacesﱳthat Dayﱴ(will be) humbledﱵ(2)
On that Day ˹some˺ faces will be downcast,
88:3
ﱶLaboringﱷexhaustedﱸ(3)
˹totally˺ overburdened, exhausted,
88:4
ﱹThey will burnﱺ(in) a Fireﱻintensely hotﱼ(4)
burning in a scorching Fire,
88:5
ﱽThey will be given to drinkﱾfromﱿa springﲀboilingﲁ(5)
left to drink from a scalding spring.
88:6
ﲂNot isﲃfor themﲄfoodﲅexceptﲆfromﲇa bitter thorny plantﲈ(6)
They will have no food except a foul, thorny shrub,
88:7
ﲉNotﲊit nourishesﲋand notﲌit availsﲍfromﲎhungerﲏ(7)
neither nourishing nor satisfying hunger.
88:8
ﲐFacesﲑthat Dayﲒ(will be) joyfulﲓ(8)
On that Day ˹other˺ faces will be glowing with bliss,
88:9
ﲔWith their effortﲕsatisfiedﲖ(9)
˹fully˺ pleased with their striving,
88:10
ﲗInﲘa gardenﲙelevatedﲚ(10)
in an elevated Garden,
88:11
ﲛNotﲜthey will hearﲝthereinﲞvain talkﲟ(11)
where no idle talk will be heard.
88:12
ﲠThereinﲡ(will be) a springﲢflowingﲣ(12)
In it will be a running spring,
88:13
ﲤThereinﲥ(will be) thronesﲦraised highﲧ(13)
along with thrones raised high,
88:14
ﲨAnd cupsﲩput in placeﲪ(14)
and cups set at hand,
88:15
ﲫAnd cushionsﲬlined upﲭ(15)
and ˹fine˺ cushions lined up,
88:16
ﲮAnd carpetsﲯspread outﲰ(16)
and ˹splendid˺ carpets spread out.
88:17
ﲱThen do notﲲthey lookﲳtowardsﲴthe camelsﲵhowﲶthey are createdﲷ(17)
Do they not ever reflect on camels—how they were ˹masterfully˺ created;1
88:18
ﲸAnd towardsﲹthe skyﲺhowﲻit is raisedﲼ(18)
and the sky—how it was raised ˹high˺;
88:19
ﲽAnd towardsﲾthe mountainsﲿhowﳀthey are fixedﳁ(19)
and the mountains—how they were firmly set up;
88:20
ﳂAnd towardsﳃthe earthﳄhowﳅit is spread outﳆ(20)
and the earth—how it was levelled out?
88:21
ﳇSo remindﳈonlyﳉyouﳊ(are) a reminderﳋ(21)
So, ˹continue to˺ remind ˹all, O Prophet˺, for your duty is only to remind.
88:22
ﳌYou are notﳍover themﳎa controllerﳏ(22)
You are not ˹there˺ to compel them ˹to believe˺.
