3:141

ﱁAnd so that may purifyﱂAllahﱃthose whoﱄbelieveﱅand destroyﱆthe disbelieversﱇ(141)

and distinguish the ˹true˺ believers and destroy the disbelievers.

3:142

ﱈOrﱉdo you thinkﱊthatﱋyou will enterﱌParadiseﱍwhile has not yetﱎmade evidentﱏAllahﱐthose whoﱑstrove hardﱒamong youﱓand made evidentﱔthe steadfastﱕ(142)

Do you think you will enter Paradise without Allah proving which of you ˹truly˺ struggled ˹for His cause˺ and patiently endured?

3:143

ﱖAnd certainlyﱗyou used toﱘwishﱙ(for) deathﱚfromﱛbeforeﱜ[that]ﱝyou met itﱞthen indeedﱟyou have seen itﱠwhile you (were)ﱡlooking onﱢ(143)

You certainly wished ˹for the opportunity˺ for martyrdom before encountering it, now you have seen it with your own eyes.

3:144

ﱣAnd notﱤ(is) Muhammad ﱥexceptﱦa Messengerﱧcertainlyﱨpassed awayﱩfromﱪbefore himﱫﱬ[the] (other) MessengersﱭSo ifﱮhe diedﱯorﱰis slainﱱwill you turn backﱲonﱳﱴyour heelsﱵAnd whoeverﱶturns backﱷonﱸhis heelsﱹthen neverﱺwill he harmﱻAllahﱼﱽ(in) anythingﱾAnd will rewardﱿAllahﲀthe grateful onesﲁ(144)

Muḥammad is no more than a messenger; other messengers have gone before him. If he were to die or to be killed, would you regress into disbelief? Those who do so will not harm Allah whatsoever. And Allah will reward those who are grateful.

3:145

ﲂAnd notﲃisﲄfor a soulﲅthatﲆhe diesﲇexceptﲈby (the) permissionﲉ(of) Allahﲊ(at a) decreeﲋﲌdeterminedﲍAnd whoeverﲎdesiresﲏrewardﲐ(of) the world ﲑWe will give himﲒthereofﲓand whoeverﲔdesiresﲕrewardﲖ(of) the HereafterﲗWe will give himﲘﲙthereofﲚAnd We will rewardﲛthe grateful onesﲜ(145)

No soul can ever die without Allah’s Will at the destined time. Those who desire worldly gain, We will let them have it, and those who desire heavenly reward, We will grant it to them. And We will reward those who are grateful.

3:146

ﲝAnd how manyﲞfromﲟa Prophetﲠfoughtﲡwith himﲢ(were) religious scholarsﲣmanyﲤBut notﲥthey lost heartﲦfor whatﲧbefell themﲨinﲩ(the) wayﲪ(of) Allahﲫand notﲬthey weakenedﲭand notﲮﲯthey gave inﲰAnd Allahﲱlovesﲲthe patient onesﲳ(146)

˹Imagine˺ how many devotees fought along with their prophets and never faltered despite whatever ˹losses˺ they suffered in the cause of Allah, nor did they weaken or give in! Allah loves those who persevere.

3:147

ﲴAnd notﲵwereﲶtheir wordsﲷexceptﲸthatﲹthey saidﲺOur Lordﲻforgiveﲼfor usﲽour sinsﲾand our excessesﲿinﳀour affairsﳁand make firmﳂour feetﳃand give us victoryﳄoverﳅ[the people]ﳆthe disbelieversﳇ(147)

And all they said was, “Our Lord! Forgive our sins and excesses, make our steps firm, and grant us victory over the disbelieving people.”

3:148

ﳈSo gave themﳉAllahﳊrewardﳋ(in) the worldﳌand goodﳍrewardﳎﳏ(in) the HereafterﳐAnd Allahﳑlovesﳒthe good-doersﳓ(148)

So Allah gave them the reward of this world and the excellent reward of the Hereafter. For Allah loves the good-doers.
