4:95

ﱁNotﱂ(are) equalﱃthe ones who sitﱄamongﱅthe believersﱆother thanﱇthe ones (who are)ﱈ[the] disabledﱉand the ones who striveﱊinﱋ(the) wayﱌ(of) Allahﱍwith their wealthﱎﱏand their livesﱐPreferredﱑ(has) Allahﱒthe ones who striveﱓwith their wealthﱔand their livesﱕtoﱖthe ones who sitﱗﱘ(in) rankﱙAnd (to) allﱚpromisedﱛ(has) Allahﱜﱝthe bestﱞpreferredﱟ(has) Allahﱠthe ones who striveﱡoverﱢthe ones who sitﱣ(with) a rewardﱤgreatﱥ(95)

Those believers who stay at home—except those with valid excuses1—are not equal to those who strive in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has elevated in rank those who strive with their wealth and their lives above those who stay behind ˹with valid excuses˺. Allah has promised each a fine reward, but those who strive will receive a far better reward than others—

4:96

ﱦRanksﱧfrom Himﱨand forgivenessﱩﱪand mercyﱫAnd isﱬAllahﱭOft-ForgivingﱮMost Mercifulﱯ(96)

far superior ranks, forgiveness, and mercy from Him. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

4:97

ﱰIndeedﱱthose whom ﱲtake them (in death)ﱳthe Angelsﱴ(while) they (were) wrongingﱵthemselvesﱶthey sayﱷIn what (condition)ﱸﱹwere youﱺThey saidﱻWe wereﱼoppressedﱽinﱾﱿthe earthﲀThey saidﲁNotﲂwasﲃ(the) earthﲄ(of) Allahﲅspacious (enough)ﲆso that you (could) emigrateﲇﲈin itﲉThen thoseﲊ(will have) their abodeﲋﲌ(in) Hell ﲍand it is an evilﲎdestinationﲏ(97)

When the angels seize the souls of those who have wronged themselves1—scolding them, “What was wrong with you?” they will reply, “We were oppressed in the land.” The angels will respond, “Was Allah’s earth not spacious enough for you to emigrate?” It is they who will have Hell as their home—what an evil destination!

4:98

ﲐExceptﲑthe oppressedﲒamongﲓthe menﲔand the womenﲕand the childrenﲖ(who) notﲗare able toﲘplanﲙand notﲚthey are directedﲛ(to) a wayﲜ(98)

Except helpless men, women, and children who cannot afford a way out—

4:99

ﲝThen thoseﲞmay beﲟAllahﲠwillﲡpardonﲢﲣ[on] themﲤand isﲥAllahﲦOft-PardoningﲧOft-Forgivingﲨ(99)

it is right to hope that Allah will pardon them. For Allah is Ever-Pardoning, All-Forgiving.

4:100

ﲩ ﲪAnd whoeverﲫemigratesﲬinﲭ(the) wayﲮ(of) Allahﲯwill findﲰinﲱthe earthﲲplace(s) of refuge ﲳmanyﲴﲵand abundanceﲶAnd whoeverﲷleavesﲸfromﲹhis homeﲺ(as) an emigrantﲻtoﲼAllahﲽand His Messengerﲾthenﲿovertakes himﳀ[the] deathﳁthen certainlyﳂ(became) incumbentﳃhis rewardﳄonﳅﳆAllahﳇAnd isﳈAllahﳉOft-ForgivingﳊMost Mercifulﳋ(100)

Whoever emigrates in the cause of Allah will find many safe havens and bountiful resources throughout the earth. Those who leave their homes and die while emigrating to Allah and His Messenger—their reward has already been secured with Allah. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

4:101

ﳌAnd whenﳍyou travelﳎinﳏthe earthﳐthen notﳑupon youﳒ(is) any blameﳓthatﳔyou shortenﳕ[of]ﳖthe prayerﳗifﳘyou fearﳙthatﳚ(may) harm youﳛthose whoﳜﳝdisbelievedﳞIndeedﳟthe disbelieversﳠareﳡfor youﳢan enemyﳣopenﳤ(101)

When you travel through the land, it is permissible for you to shorten the prayer1—˹especially˺ if you fear an attack by the disbelievers. Indeed, the disbelievers are your sworn enemies.
