2:154

And (do) notsayfor (the ones) whoare slainin(the) way(of) Allahﱈﱉ(They are) deadNay(they are) alive[and] butyou (do) notperceive(154)

Never say that those martyred in the cause of Allah are dead—in fact, they are alive! But you do not perceive it.

2:155

And surely We will test youwith somethingof[the] fearand [the] hungerand lossof[the] wealthand [the] livesﱙﱚand [the] fruitsbut give good news(to) the patient ones(155)

We will certainly test you with a touch of fear and famine and loss of property, life, and crops. Give good news to those who patiently endure—

2:156

Those whowhenstrikes thema misfortunethey sayIndeed, webelong to Allahand indeed wetowards Himwill return(156)

who say, when struck by a disaster, “Surely to Allah we belong and to Him we will ˹all˺ return.”

2:157

Thoseon them(are) blessingsfromtheir Lordﱮﱯand MercyAnd those[they](are) the guided ones(157)

They are the ones who will receive Allah’s blessings and mercy. And it is they who are ˹rightly˺ guided.

2:158

ﱴ ﱵIndeedthe Safaand the Marwah(are) from(the) symbolsﱺﱻ(of) AllahSo whoeverperforms Hajj(of) the Houseﱿorperforms Umrahso noblameon himthathe walksﲆﲇbetween [both of] themAnd whoevervoluntarily doesgoodthen indeedAllah(is) All-AppreciativeAll-Knowing(158)

Indeed, ˹the hills of˺ Ṣafa and Marwah1 are among the symbols of Allah. So whoever makes the major or minor pilgrimage to the ˹Sacred˺ House,2 let them walk between ˹the two hills˺. And whoever does good willingly, Allah is truly Appreciative, All-Knowing.

2:159

Indeedthose whoconcealwhatWe revealedofthe clear proofsand the Guidancefromafter[what]We made clearto the peopleinthe Book thosecurses themAllahand curse themthe ones who curse(159)

Those who hide the clear proofs and guidance that We have revealed—after We made it clear for humanity in the Book—will be condemned by Allah and ˹all˺ those who condemn.

2:160

Exceptthosewho repent[ed]and reform[ed]and openly declar[ed]Then thoseI will accept repentancefrom themand I (am)the Acceptor of Repentancethe Most Merciful(160)

As for those who repent, mend their ways, and let the truth be known, they are the ones to whom I will turn ˹in forgiveness˺, for I am the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful.

2:161

Indeedthose whodisbelieve[d]and die[d]while they(were) disbelieversthoseon them(is the) curse(of) Allahand the Angelsand the mankindall together(161)

Surely those who disbelieve and die as disbelievers are condemned by Allah, the angels, and all of humanity.

2:162

ﲿ(Will) abide foreverin itNotwill be lightenedfor themthe punishmentand nottheywill be reprieved(162)

They will be in Hell forever. Their punishment will not be lightened, nor will they be delayed ˹from it˺.

2:163

And your God(is) Godﳋﳌone (only)(there is) nogodexceptHimthe Most Graciousthe Most Merciful(163)

Your God is ˹only˺ One God. There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.
