20:99

ThusWe relateto youfrom(the) news(of) whathas precededﱈﱉhas precededAnd certainlyWe have given youfromUsa Reminder(99)

This is how We relate to you ˹O Prophet˺ some of the stories of the past. And We have certainly granted you a Reminder1 from Us.

20:100

Whoeverturns awayfrom itthen indeed, hewill bear(on the) Day(of) Resurrectiona burden(100)

Whoever turns away from it will surely bear the burden ˹of sin˺ on the Day of Judgment,

20:101

Abiding foreverﱚﱛin itand evilfor them(on the) Day(of) the Resurrection(as) a load(101)

suffering its consequences forever. What an evil burden they will carry on Judgment Day!

20:102

(The) Daywill be blowninﱥﱦthe Trumpetand We will gatherthe criminalsthat Dayblue-eyed(102)

˹Beware of˺ the Day the Trumpet will be blown,1 and We will gather the wicked on that Day blue-faced ˹from horror and thirst˺.2

20:103

They are murmuringamong themselvesNotyou remainedexcept (for)ten(103)

They will whisper among themselves, “You stayed no more than ten days ˹on the earth˺.”

20:104

Weknow bestwhatthey will saywhenwill say(the) best of them(in) conductNotyou remainedexcept (for)a dayﱿ(104)

We know best what they will say—the most reasonable of them will say, “You stayed no more than a day.”

20:105

And they ask youaboutthe mountainsso sayWill blast themmy Lord(into) particles(105)

And ˹if˺ they ask you ˹O Prophet˺ about the mountains, ˹then˺ say, “My Lord will wipe them out completely,

20:106

Then He will leave ita levelplain(106)

leaving the earth level and bare,

20:107

Notyou will seein itany crookednessand notany curve(107)

with neither depressions nor elevations to be seen.”

20:108

On that Daythey will followthe callernodeviationﲘﲙfrom itAnd (will be) humbledthe voicesfor the Most Graciousso notyou will hearexcepta faint sound(108)

On that Day all will follow the caller ˹for assembly˺, ˹and˺ none will dare to deviate. All voices will be hushed before the Most Compassionate. Only whispers1 will be heard.

20:109

(On) that Daynotwill benefitthe intercessionexcept(to) whomhas given permission[to him]the Most Graciousand He has acceptedfor hima word(109)

On that Day no intercession will be of any benefit, except by those granted permission by the Most Compassionate and whose words are agreeable to Him.

20:110

He knowswhat(is) before them(is) before themand what(is) behind themwhile notthey encompassit(in) knowledge(110)

He ˹fully˺ knows what is ahead of them and what is behind them,1 but they cannot encompass Him in ˹their˺ knowledge.2

20:111

ﲺ ﲻAnd (will be) humbledthe facesbefore the Ever-Livingﲾﲿthe Self-SubsistingAnd verilywill have failed(he) whocarriedwrongdoing(111)

And all faces will be humbled before the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining. And those burdened with wrongdoing will be in loss.

20:112

But (he) whodoesofthe righteous deedswhile he(is) a believerthen nothe will fearinjusticeand notdeprivation(112)

But whoever does good and is a believer will have no fear of being wronged or denied ˹their reward˺.

20:113

And thusWe have sent it down(the) Quran(in) Arabicand We have explainedin itofthe warningsthat they mayfearorit may cause[for] themremembrance(113)

And so We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran and varied the warnings in it, so perhaps they will shun evil or it may cause them to be mindful.
