21:82

And ofthe devils(were some) whowould divefor himand would doworkother thanﱉﱊthatAnd We wereof themGuardians(82)

And ˹We subjected˺ some jinn1 that dived for him,2 and performed other duties. It is We Who kept them in check.

21:83

ﱏ ﱐAnd Ayubwhenhe called(to) his LordIndeed, [I]has touched methe adversityand You(are) Most Merciful(of) the Merciful(83)

And ˹remember˺ when Job cried out to his Lord, “I have been touched with adversity,1 and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.”

21:84

So We respondedto himand We removedwhat(was) on himofﱡﱢ(the) adversityAnd We gave himhis familyand (the) like thereofwith them(as) Mercyfrom Ourselvesfrom Ourselvesand a reminderfor the worshippers(84)

So We answered his prayer and removed his adversity, and gave him back his family, twice as many, as a mercy from Us and a lesson for the ˹devoted˺ worshippers.

21:85

And Ishmaeland Idrisand Dhul-Kiflﱰﱱand Dhul-Kiflall(were) ofthe patient ones(85)

And ˹remember˺ Ishmael, Enoch, and Ⱬul-Kifl.1 They were all steadfast.

21:86

And We admitted theminﱸﱹOur MercyIndeed, they(were) ofthe righteous(86)

We admitted them into Our mercy, for they were truly of the righteous.

21:87

And Dhun-NunﱿAnd Dhun-Nunwhenhe went(while) angryand thoughtthatneverWe would decreeupon himThen he calledinthe darkness(es)that(There is) nogodexceptYouGlory be to YouIndeed, [I]I amofthe wrongdoers(87)

And ˹remember˺ when the Man of the Whale stormed off ˹from his city˺ in a rage, thinking We would not restrain him.1 Then in the ˹veils of˺ darkness2 he cried out, “There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except You. Glory be to You! I have certainly done wrong.”

21:88

So We respondedto himand We saved himfromﲚﲛthe distressAnd thusWe savethe believers(88)

So We answered his prayer and rescued him from anguish. And so do We save the ˹true˺ believers.

21:89

And Zakariyawhenhe called(to) his LordMy Lord(Do) notleave mealonewhile You(are) [the] Best(of) the inheritors(89)

And ˹remember˺ when Zachariah cried out to his Lord, “My Lord! Do not leave me childless, though You are the Best of Successors.”1

21:90

So We respondedto himand We bestowedon himYahyaand We curedfor himﲳﲴhis wifeIndeed, theyused (to)hasteningood deedsand they supplicate to Us(in) hopeﲼﲽand fearand they wereﲿto Ushumbly submissive(90)

So We answered his prayer, granted him John, and made his wife fertile. Indeed, they used to race in doing good, and call upon Us with hope and fear, totally humbling themselves before Us.
