36:55

Indeed(the) companions(of) Paradisethis Day[in]will be occupied(in) amusement(55)

Indeed, on that Day the residents of Paradise will be busy enjoying themselves.

36:56

Theyand their spousesinshadeson[the] couchesreclining(56)

They and their spouses will be in ˹cool˺ shade, reclining on ˹canopied˺ couches.

36:57

For themtherein(are) fruitsand for them(is) whateverthey call for(57)

There they will have fruits and whatever they desire.

36:58

PeaceA wordfroma LordMost Merciful(58)

And “Peace!” will be ˹their˺ greeting from the Merciful Lord.

36:59

But stand aparttodayO criminalsO criminals(59)

˹Then the disbelievers will be told,˺ “Step away ˹from the believers˺ this Day, O  wicked ones!

36:60

ﱣ ﱤDid notI enjoinupon youO Children of AdamO Children of AdamThat(do) notworshipﱬﱭthe Shaitaanindeed, he(is) for youan enemyclear(60)

Did I not command you, O  Children of Adam, not to follow Satan, for he is truly your sworn enemy,

36:61

And thatﱴﱵyou worship MeThis(is) a PathStraight(61)

but to worship Me ˹alone˺? This is the Straight Path.

36:62

And indeedhe led astrayfrom youa multitudeﱾﱿgreatThen did notyouuse reason(62)

Yet he already misled great multitudes of you. Did you not have any sense?

36:63

This (is)(the) Hellwhichyou werepromised(63)

This is the Hell you were warned of.

36:64

Burn thereintodaybecauseyou used todisbelieve(64)

Burn in it Today for your disbelief.”

36:65

This DayWe will seal[on]their mouthsand will speak to Ustheir handsand will bear witnesstheir feetabout whatthey used toearn(65)

On this Day We will seal their mouths, their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify to what they used to commit.

36:66

And ifWe willedWe (would have) surely obliterated[over]their eyesthen they (would) race(to find) the paththen how(could) they see(66)

Had We willed, We could have easily blinded their eyes, so they would struggle to find their way. How then could they see?

36:67

And ifWe willedsurely, We (would have) transformed themintheir placesthen notthey would have been ableto proceedand notreturn(67)

And had We willed, We could have transfigured them on the spot,1 so they could neither progress forward nor turn back.

36:68

And (he) whomWe grant him long lifeWe reverse himinﲵﲶthe creationThen will notthey use intellect(68)

And whoever We grant a long life, We reverse them in development.1 Will they not then understand?

36:69

And notWe taught him[the] poetryand notit is befittingﲿﳀfor himNotit(is) excepta Reminderand a Quranclear(69)

We have not taught him poetry, nor is it fitting for him. This ˹Book˺ is only a Reminder and a clear Quran

36:70

To warn(him) whoisaliveand may be proved truethe Wordagainstthe disbelievers(70)

to warn whoever is ˹truly˺ alive and fulfil the decree ˹of torment˺ against the disbelievers.
