40:34

ﱁAnd indeedﱂcame to youﱃYusufﱄbeforeﱅbeforeﱆwith clear proofsﱇbut notﱈyou ceasedﱉinﱊdoubtﱋabout whatﱌhe brought to youﱍﱎ[with it]ﱏuntilﱐwhenﱑhe diedﱒyou saidﱓNeverﱔwill Allah raiseﱕwill Allah raiseﱖafter himﱗafter himﱘﱙa MessengerﱚThusﱛAllah lets go astrayﱜAllah lets go astrayﱝwhoﱞ[he]ﱟ(is) a transgressorﱠa doubterﱡ(34)

Joseph already came to you1 earlier with clear proofs, yet you never ceased to doubt what he came to you with. When he died you said, ‘Allah will never send a messenger after him.’ This is how Allah leaves every transgressor and doubter to stray—

40:35

ﱢThose whoﱣdisputeﱤconcerningﱥ(the) Signsﱦ(of) Allahﱧwithoutﱨany authorityﱩﱪ(having) come to themﱫ(it) is greatlyﱬhatefulﱭnear Allahﱮnear Allahﱯand nearﱰthoseﱱﱲwho believeﱳThusﱴAllah sets a sealﱵAllah sets a sealﱶoverﱷeveryﱸheartﱹ(of) an arrogantﱺtyrantﱻ(35)

those who dispute Allah’s signs with no proof given to them. How despicable is that for Allah and the believers! This is how Allah seals the heart of every arrogant tyrant.”

40:36

ﱼAnd saidﱽFiraunﱾO HamanﱿConstructﲀfor meﲁa towerﲂthat I mayﲃreachﲄthe waysﲅ(36)

Pharaoh ordered, “O Hamân! Build me a high tower so I may reach the pathways

40:37

ﲆ(The) waysﲇ(to) the heavensﲈso I may lookﲉatﲊ(the) Godﲋ(of) Musaﲌand indeed, Iﲍ[I] surely think himﲎﲏ(to be) a liarﲐAnd thusﲑwas made fair-seemingﲒto Firaunﲓ(the) evilﲔ(of) his deedﲕand he was avertedﲖfromﲗﲘthe wayﲙAnd notﲚ(was the) plotﲛ(of) Firaunﲜexceptﲝinﲞruinﲟ(37)

leading up to the heavens and look for the God of Moses, although I am sure he is a liar.”1 And so Pharaoh’s evil deeds were made so appealing to him that he was hindered from the ˹Right˺ Way. But the plotting of Pharaoh was only in vain.

40:38

ﲠAnd saidﲡthe one whoﲢbelievedﲣO my peopleﲤFollow meﲥI will guide youﲦ(to the) wayﲧthe rightﲨ(38)

And the man who believed urged, “O my people! Follow me, ˹and˺ I will lead you to the Way of Guidance.

40:39

ﲩO my peopleﲪOnlyﲫthisﲬthe lifeﲭ(of) the worldﲮ(is) enjoymentﲯand indeedﲰthe Hereafter ﲱitﲲ(is the) homeﲳ(of) settlementﲴ(39)

O  my people! This worldly life is only ˹a fleeting˺ enjoyment, whereas the Hereafter is truly the home of settlement.

40:40

ﲵWhoeverﲶdoesﲷan evilﲸthen notﲹhe will be recompensedﲺbutﲻﲼ(the) like thereofﲽand whoeverﲾdoesﲿrighteous (deeds)ﳀofﳁmaleﳂorﳃfemaleﳄwhile heﳅ(is) a believerﳆthen thoseﳇwill enterﳈParadiseﳉthey will be given provisionﳊin itﳋwithoutﳌaccountﳍ(40)

Whoever does an evil deed will only be paid back with its equivalent. And whoever does good, whether male or female, and is a believer, they will enter Paradise, where they will be provided for without limit.
