41. FussilatExplained in Detail

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful

41:1

Ha Meem(1)

Ḥâ-Mĩm.

41:2

A revelationfromthe Most Graciousthe Most Merciful(2)

˹This is˺ a revelation from the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

41:3

A Bookare detailedits Versesa Quran(in) Arabicfor a people(who) know(3)

˹It is˺ a Book whose verses are perfectly explained—a Quran in Arabic for people who know,

41:4

A giver of glad tidingsand a warnerbut turn awaymost of themso they(do) nothear(4)

delivering good news and warning. Yet most of them turn away, so they do not hear.

41:5

And they sayOur hearts(are) incoveringsfrom whatyou call usto itand inour ears(is) deafnessand between usand between usand between you(is) a screenSo workindeed, we(are) working(5)

They say, “Our hearts are veiled against what you are calling us to, there is deafness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us and you. So do ˹whatever you want˺ and so shall we!”

41:6

SayOnlyI ama manlike youit is revealedto methatyour god(is) GodOneso take a Straight Pathto Himﱷﱸand ask His forgivenessAnd woeto the polytheists(6)

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “I am only a man like you, ˹but˺ it has been revealed to me that your God is only One God. So take the Straight Way towards Him, and seek His forgiveness. And woe to the polytheists—

41:7

Those who(do) notgiveﱿthe zakahand theyin the Hereafterthey(are) disbelievers(7)

those who do not pay alms-tax and are in denial of the Hereafter.

41:8

Indeedthose whobelieveand dorighteous deedsfor them(is) a rewardnever endingnever ending(8)

˹But˺ those who believe and do good will certainly have a never-ending reward.

41:9

ﲏ ﲐSayDo you indeed[surely] disbelievein the One Whocreatedthe earthintwo periodsand you set upwith HimﲚﲛrivalsThat(is the) Lord(of) the worlds(9)

Ask ˹them, O  Prophet˺, “How can you disbelieve in the One Who created the earth in two Days? And how can you set up equals with Him? That is the Lord of all worlds.

41:10

And He placedthereinfirmly-set mountainsabove itabove itand He blessedthereinand determinedthereinits sustenanceinfourperiodsequalfor those who ask(10)

He placed on the earth firm mountains, standing high, showered His blessings upon it, and ordained ˹all˺ its means of sustenance—totaling four Days exactly1—for all who ask.

41:11

ThenHe directed (Himself)towardsthe heavenwhile it (was)smokeand He saidto itand to the earthCome both of youwillinglyorunwillinglyThey both saidWe comeﲿwillingly(11)

Then He turned towards the heaven when it was ˹still like˺ smoke, saying to it and to the earth, ‘Submit, willingly or unwillingly.’ They both responded, ‘We submit willingly.’
