ﱁHave you seenﱂifﱃhe deniesﱄand turns awayﱅ(13)
What if that ˹man˺ persists in denial and turns away?

What if that ˹man˺ persists in denial and turns away?
96:14
ﱆDoes notﱇhe knowﱈthatﱉAllahﱊseesﱋ(14)
Does he not know that Allah sees ˹all˺?
96:15
ﱌNayﱍIfﱎnotﱏhe desistsﱐsurely We will drag himﱑby the forelockﱒ(15)
But no! If he does not desist, We will certainly drag him by the forelock—
96:16
ﱓA forelockﱔlyingﱕsinfulﱖ(16)
a lying, sinful forelock.1
96:17
ﱗThen let him callﱘhis associatesﱙ(17)
So let him call his associates.
96:18
ﱚWe will callﱛthe Angels of Hellﱜ(18)
We will call the wardens of Hell.
96:19
ﱝNayﱞ(Do) notﱟobey himﱠﱡBut prostrateﱢﱣand draw near (to Allah)ﱤ(19)
Again, no! Never obey him ˹O Prophet˺! Rather, ˹continue to˺ prostrate and draw near ˹to Allah˺.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful
97:1
ﱥIndeed, Weﱦrevealed itﱧinﱨ(the) Nightﱩ(of) Powerﱪ(1)
Indeed, ˹it is˺ We ˹Who˺ sent this ˹Quran˺ down on the Night of Glory.1
97:2
ﱫAnd whatﱬcan make you knowﱭwhatﱮ(the) Nightﱯ(of) Power (is)ﱰ(2)
And what will make you realize what the Night of Glory is?
97:3
ﱱ(The) Nightﱲ(of) Powerﱳ(is) betterﱴthanﱵa thousandﱶmonth(s)ﱷ(3)
The Night of Glory is better than a thousand months.
97:4
ﱸDescendﱹthe Angelsﱺand the Spiritﱻthereinﱼby (the) permissionﱽ(of) their Lordﱾforﱿeveryﲀaffairﲁ(4)
That night the angels and the ˹holy˺ spirit1 descend, by the permission of their Lord, for every ˹decreed˺ matter.
97:5
ﲂPeaceﲃit (is)ﲄuntilﲅ(the) emergenceﲆ(of) the dawnﲇ(5)
It is all peace until the break of dawn.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful
98:1
ﲈNotﲉwereﲊthose whoﲋdisbelievedﲌfromﲍ(the) Peopleﲎof the Bookﲏand the polytheistsﲐto be abandonedﲑuntilﲒ(there) comes to themﲓthe clear evidenceﲔ(1)
The disbelievers from the People of the Book and the polytheists were not going to desist ˹from disbelief˺ until the clear proof came to them:
98:2
ﲕA MessengerﲖfromﲗAllahﲘrecitingﲙpagesﲚpurifiedﲛ(2)
a messenger from Allah, reciting scrolls of ˹utmost˺ purity,
98:3
ﲜWhereinﲝ(are) writingsﲞcorrectﲟ(3)
containing upright commandments.
98:4
ﲠAnd notﲡbecame dividedﲢthose whoﲣwere givenﲤthe Bookﲥuntilﲦfromﲧafterﲨwhatﲩcame (to) themﲪ(of) the clear evidenceﲫ(4)
It was not until this clear proof came to the People of the Book that they became divided ˹about his prophethood˺—
98:5
ﲬAnd notﲭthey were commandedﲮexceptﲯto worshipﲰAllahﲱ(being) sincereﲲto Himﲳ(in) the religionﲴuprightﲵand to establishﲶthe prayerﲷand to giveﲸﲹthe zakahﲺAnd thatﲻ(is the) religionﲼthe correctﲽ(5)
even though they were only commanded to worship Allah ˹alone˺ with sincere devotion to Him in all uprightness, establish prayer, and pay alms-tax. That is the upright Way.
