103. Al-'AsrThe Declining Day

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful

103:1

By the time(1)

By the ˹passage of˺ time!

103:2

Indeedmankind(is) surely, inloss(2)

Surely humanity is in ˹grave˺ loss,

103:3

Exceptthose whobelieveand dorighteous deedsand enjoin (each other)to the truthand enjoin (each other)to [the] patience(3)

except those who have faith, do good, and urge each other to the truth, and urge each other to perseverance.

104. Al-HumazahThe Traducer

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful

104:1

Woeto everyslandererbackbiter(1)

Woe to every backbiter, slanderer,

104:2

The one whocollectswealthand counts it(2)

who amasses wealth ˹greedily˺ and counts it ˹repeatedly˺,

104:3

Thinkingthathis wealthwill make him immortal(3)

thinking that their wealth will make them immortal!

104:4

ﱡﱢNaySurely he will be throwninthe Crusher(4)

Not at all! Such a person will certainly be tossed into the Crusher.

104:5

And whatwill make you knowwhatthe Crusher (is)(5)

And what will make you realize what the Crusher is?

104:6

A FireAllahkindled(6)

˹It is˺ Allah’s kindled Fire,

104:7

Whichmounts uptothe hearts(7)

which rages over the hearts.

104:8

Indeed, it(will be) upon themclosed over(8)

It will be sealed over them,

104:9

Incolumnsextended(9)

˹tightly secured˺ with long braces.1

105. Al-FilThe Elephant

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful

105:1

Have notyou seenﱿhowdealtyour Lordwith (the) Companions(of the) Elephant(1)

Have you not seen ˹O Prophet˺ how your Lord dealt with the Army of the Elephant?

105:2

Did notHe maketheir plangoastray(2)

Did He not frustrate their scheme?

105:3

And He sentagainst thembirds(in) flocks(3)

For He sent against them flocks of birds,

105:4

Striking themwith stonesofbaked clay(4)

that pelted them with stones of baked clay,

105:5

Then He made themlike straweaten up(5)

leaving them like chewed up straw.1
